THIS is surely not the best of time for former Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, FEMI FANI-KAYODE, FFK, as Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has stepped up its war against corruption in the country under any guise. The All-Progressives Congress (APC) chief, FFK has been arrested by EFCC few hours ago at a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, and moved to a nearby EFCC office, along Awolowo road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Daily Trust report that the former minister, who was in court over his forgery trial, was walking out after the matter was adjourned till January 24, 2022, when he was approached by an EFCC investigator.

He was subsequently arrested and moved to custody, a week after his earlier arrest. An EFCC investigator, Shehu Shuaibu, confirmed the ex-minister-s arrest, saying he was being quizzed over false documents.

Sources who are aides to EFCC that would not want their names in print confided in this reporter that FFK in the past few days was already jittery that he may be arrested when his case comes up again in the Federal High Court, Lagos. “We can tell you that FFK already had an intuition that he may be arrested by EFCC when his case comes up at the Federal High Court, Lagos because a reliable contact in the intelligence community already told FFK that EFCC hierarchy was not happy with the narrative concocted by the former minister after the anti-graft agency left him off the hook albeit temporarily last week on self-recognition on this same forgery matter.  Remember hat FFK claimed and issued press releases that he was not arrested by EFCC, rather he walked up to honor EFCC appointment. EFCC now want the world to know that FFK has been arrested this time around for forgery of documents. Before we arrived the court, FFK had told us should he be arrested, he will claim he is innocent of any allegation. And he has already told his team of lawyers to step up process to release him in case he is arrested.”
