Naija Standard<\/i><\/b> <\/b>gathered <\/b>Legendary DJ Award Honoree will be giving to Marley Marl, Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree: Kid Capri. In the music competition\u2019s guidelines, he said: \u201cIn the changing climate of the music industry there has been one constant \u2013 the DJ, who had yet to be recognized exclusively for their contribution to both music and entertainment industries. The GSA \u00a0has become the\u00a0 Premier DJ Award & Ceremony. From its commencement, on November 19th, 2012, The GSAs have been classified as the Quality Standard of DJ Recognition by music industry executives and tastemakers.<\/p>\n

GSAs were created to award and honor the world\u2019s most dynamic and talented DJs for their contribution to the culture of music and entertainment: past, present and future. From the influential DJ pioneers and innovators, to the trendsetters and entrepreneurs; elite DJs across the globe will be recognized and honored, amongst their peers and other industry professionals for their contribution to the entertainment industry and the ever expanding DJ Culture.<\/p>\n

Plans for the Awards<\/b><\/p>\n
Shawn says: \u201cThroughout my career I\u2019ve formed long standing relationships with DJs, and have always noticed the lack of recognition given to them and the roles they play within the culture, music and entertainment. The GSAs were created to fill that void and finally honor the DJs exclusively for their achievements, especially amongst their peers. Simply put, DJs deserve their own.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 2013 GSA Show will take place on Monday November 18th 2013 in New York City at the New York Times Center in Manhattan. New York City is one of the most vibrant and industrious cities in the world, serving as a haven for music and pop culture. Above all, it is home to the founding fathers of the DJ\u2019ing art form as we know it today. There is no question as to what better place to host an award show in the DJ\u2019s Honor.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Industry \u2013 Invite Only Formal Event has drawn an audience comprised of the biggest names in music and entertainment.<\/p>\n
The Host<\/b><\/p>\n
The GSAs will be hosted by SWAY of MTV & Sway In The Mornings \u2013 Sirius XM \u2013 Calloway is an icon of hip-hop culture and a pivotal part of the MTV News team. Sway has been a staple of the music-news arena for more than a decade.<\/p>\n
The New York Times Center<\/b><\/p>\n
Naija Standard<\/i><\/b> learnt that New York Times Center, venue of this lively event is an open floor plan, 900-square floor lobby with a floor to ceiling view of 41st street, is the ideal setting to kick-start the GSAs.<\/p>\n
Our investigation showed that the stage is a 500-seat auditorium featuring a 60 foot-wide stage. This state\u2013of-the-art, intimate and unforgettable venue, is a perfect match for the unique and innovative Global Spin Awards. It will be a night of entertainment, with guest performances by some of today\u2019s top artists and skillful DJs. This is an industry, invite only, event.<\/p>\n

DJ Bureau<\/b><\/p>\n
The global spin voting committee also known as the \u201cDJ Bureau\u201d is comprised of the most influential music industry tastemakers, executives, pop culture enthusiasts, and legendary DJs. This select group of influential individuals will work together to compile the list of categories and nominees who have transcended in their careers.<\/p>\n
Charged with the task of placing these multifaceted, skillful DJs into categories, the bureau will spotlight the leaders in each given subset. The award categories and nominees will be announced on September 2013.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The winners will then be selected and finalized by the \u201cDJ Bureau\u201d the week prior to the awards show. This selection will be based on set criteria including the following: individual career accomplishments, significance to the DJ culture, brand awareness, industry support, and recognition in the given category.<\/p>\n
