A NIGERIAN,\nKNOWN TO HAVE COMMITTED A HUGE CRIME IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA AND KNOWN\nAS THE NOTORIOUS KING OF ROMANCE, FISAYO OLUWAFEMI has been\nre-arrested for using 16 mobile phones while inside Sydney ‘s\nVillawood Detention to dupe hundreds of Australians to the tune of\n$3miillnm.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oluwafemi was accused of\nmasterminding a $3 million email fraud scam from inside a detention\ncentre has been arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He allegedly ran the con from\ninside Sydney’s Villawood Detention Centre, where police seized 16\nmobile phones, numerous SIM cards, identification information, and\nvarious electronic storage devices on Thursday. The 43-year-old is\nallegedly the ring leader of a crime ring that targeted not only\nbusinesses, but women looking for love, police claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under\nthe alleged scam, emails were sent out from falsified or ‘spoofed’\nemail addresses encouraging recipients to reveal personal details\nsuch as credit card numbers, account names and passwords, officers\nsaid. The emails also allegedly urge Fisayo Oluwafemid\npeople to send money in exchange for love or goods.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\nThursday, Oluwafemi was taken to Bankstown Police Station after\nStrike Force Woolana investigators, assisted by Australian Border\nForce, searched the Villawood detention centre.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strike\nForce Woolana was established to investigate organised criminal\nsyndicates involved in fraudulent activities.\nMr\nOluwafemi was then charged with knowingly directing activities of\ncriminal group, two counts of knowingly dealing with proceeds of\ncrime, and possessing identity info to commit indictable offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police\nwill allege in court he directed the scam and the group, which\nallegedly included two women and one man, all of African descent. \nThe\nfunds were allegedly sent to Nigeria. Mr\nOluwafemi was refused bail and is due to appear in Bankstown local\ncourt on Friday. Harriette\nBangura, 36, who is accused of working with Mr Oluwafemi, was\narrested by the strike force on September 4.\nShe\nhas been charged with counts of knowingly dealing with the proceeds\nof crime. Search warrants were executed for the Kingswood mother’s\nproperty in Sydney’s west and a Hoxton Park storage unit where police\nseized computers, electronic storage devices, mobile phones, sim\ncards, and documentation. The woman’s Land Rover was also seized from\na car park at St Mary’s, which police believe was purchased with\ncriminal proceeds. Ms Bangura was granted strict conditional bail to\nreappear at Downing Centre Local Court on November 1. Police will\nallege in court she was involved in the laundering of more than\n$480,000 under Oluwafemi’s alleged scam racket. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strike force also raided\nhomes in Chester Hill and Granville, in Sydney’s west. Police seized\ncomputers, mobile phones, SIM cards, methamphetamine and identity and\nfinancial documents – all believed to have been stolen. The raids led\nto the arrest of a man and woman on September 5, both 20, at the\nChester Hill property.The pair are accused of working with Oluwafemi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 20-year-old man was\ncharged with seven counts of recklessly dealing with the proceeds of\ncrime, possess identity information with intent to commit an\nindictable offence and possess drug implement.Police attest he was\ninvolved in the syndicate and laundered $90,000. Police allege the\n20-year-old woman laundered $17,000 fraudulently under Oluwafemi’s\nalleged scam racket. She was charged with knowingly dealing with the\nproceeds of crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 20-year-olds were granted\nstrict conditional bail and are due to appear at Parramatta Local\nCourt on October 2. A third woman, 36, was also arrested at the\nGranville property for drug related offences. She is due to appear at\nParramatta Local Court on October 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
