HIS NAME IS BEN SOYEMI, A NIGERIAN STUDENT IN ONE OF THE\nBRITISH SCHOOLS ON STUDENT VISA. Sensing that his student visa was\nabout to expire, the 25 year old Nigerian began the search for a\nBritish lady to whom he wanted to deceive into a fake marriage. He\neventually came on social media and met an innocent British lady,\nDeana Charles, desperate to get married. <\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narrating\nher pain, humiliation and ordeal recently, Deana reportedly lament\nhow she met met Ben, who pretended to love her but only for her to\ndiscover she was married purposely so he could obtain British visa.\n Deana explained how a\n25-year-old Nigerian boy married her after just six\nmonths of meeting him on social media just so that he could get a\nvisa, popularly called ‘green card’ in this part. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles\nsaid she was humiliated, degraded and taken for a ride by the sharp\n‘Naija’ student who hit on her while a student in the UK and seeing\nthat his student visa was about to expire, he saw in her a ticket for\nher stay and had to get on with the sham marriage especially\nwhen she found out half an hour after their wedding that the guy was\nbusy texting some love messages to another woman in Nigeria.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nDeana,\na Sales assistant from Tiverton, Devon, said she met Ben on a dating\nsite in 2010 and was instantly attracted to his looks and was hooked\nafter he struck up a flirty conversation with her; he proposed to her\nafter six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Her word:\n\u201c”My\nwhole world came crashing down when I found out my marriage was a\nfake. I loved Ben with all my heart. We\u2019d made loads of plans for\nthe future and he seemed desperate to start a family<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I wasn\u2019t serious about finding love, I\u2019d only signed up\nfor a bit of a laugh. As soon as I saw Ben\u2019s picture, though, I was\nsmitten. He had gorgeous brown eyes and a great body \u2014 just my\ntype. We started chatting and he explained he\u2019d come to the United\nKingdom from Nigeria to study for a business degree. I couldn\u2019t\nimagine being so far away from my family and friends and I told him\nhe was really brave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we finally met after so much pressure from him, it was\nthe perfect first date. Ben took me to see Big Ben and we went to the\nNational Maritime Museum in Greenwich. As soon as we shared our first\nkiss, I could feel myself falling for him. He asked me to stay for a\nfew days and I said yes. It felt like I\u2019d known him for ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter a fleeting visit home to pick up some belongings, I\nagreed to move in with Ben in Catford, South East London. I was\nsurprised when he asked me to move in with him so soon but I was also\nreally excited. But my mum was really concerned that I was giving up\neverything for someone I\u2019d only just met. Some of my friends said\nthe same. No one was completely sure of him. I just shrugged off\ntheir concerns because I was convinced he was the right man for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBen asked me to marry him six months later while we were\nhaving breakfast at home. It wasn\u2019t very romantic. He didn\u2019t even\nget down on one knee, but he did buy me an imitation diamond ring. I\nwas shocked he wanted to marry me so soon but I was completely in\nlove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe wedding was at a register office in January 2012, with a\nlow-key reception at a local Chinese restaurant. My\nfamily were concerned but they all turned out and supported me. When\nI walked down the aisle Ben told me I looked stunning. And I meant\nevery word of my vows. He\nwas reluctant to get his phone out. He eventually agreed to call his\nmum but when I looked over his shoulder at the screen, a message\nflashed up from a girl. She\u2019d texted Ben to tell him she loved and\nmissed him.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n \u201cMy\nlegs turned to jelly as I remembered she was his ex-girlfriend in\nNigeria. I was in pieces but Ben begged me for another chance. He\nsaid he\u2019d only text her because of last-minute nerves. I didn\u2019t\nwant to storm out of my wedding so, after lots of tears, I let it go.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wanted to wait a few years before getting pregnant as I was\nstill worried about the message. But Ben was determined to be a dad.\nI thought it was his way of showing he was serious. We tried for a\nbaby but we struggled to conceive.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But 13 months into their marriage, Deana borrowed Ben\u2019s\nlaptop and her worst fears were confirmed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“My heart stopped when I\nsaw he\u2019d been sending messages to a girl on a social network site\nand she had sent him explicit pictures. Ben told her he loved her and\nwanted a baby with her. Minutes later, I received a message from the\ngirl – she felt so guilty, she\u2019d messaged me to come clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he realised there was no\nway back, he told me he\u2019d only married me for a visa. It explained\nwhy he\u2019d been so keen to get me pregnant, the authorities would\nfind it harder to deport him.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nDistraught\nDeana packed her bags, fled home to Devon the next day and filed for\ndivorce. After two years, Ben finally agreed to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
