SEAMAN VICTOR DIAMOND, A NIGERIAN Born American\nNaval Future Warfighter has brought glory to Africa&#8217;s most populous\nblack nation in the world being an outstanding military officer\nsingled out for celebration by the entire unit of Navy Office of\nCommunity Outreach in Millington, Tennessee.<\/strong> \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Based on an\nelectronic mail NAIJA STANDARD Newspaper received from MC2\n(SW\/AW) Theodore Quintana in the  Media Outreach Department, Great\nLakes III, the press statement celebrates the craftsmanship of Seaman\nDiamond within the training being offered at  Naval\nEducation and Training command, NETC. <\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quintana\nstated that Sailors\nare some of the most highly-trained people on the planet, according\nto Navy officials, and this training requires highly-dedicated\ninstructors.\nAt\nNaval Education and Training command, instructors at advanced\ntechnical schools teach sailors to be highly skilled, operational,\nand combat ready warfighters, while providing the tools and\nopportunities for continuous learning and development.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>She\nilluminated that <\/strong><strong>Seaman\n Diamond, a native of Portharcourt, is  a student at NETC, learning\nthe necessary skills needed to be a boatswain&#8217;s mate. A boatswain&#8217;s\nmate is responsible for the overall maintenance and preservation of\nNavy warships.<\/strong><br><br><strong>Students\nattend advanced technical schools after \u201cboot camp.\u201d They are\ntaught the basic technical knowledge and skills required to be\nsuccessful in their new careers.<\/strong><strong>Diamond,\na 2007 graduate of Century International High School, credits success\nin the Navy to many of the lessons learned growing up in\nPortharcourt.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In\nhis own remark, Seaman Diamond said: <\/strong><strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>I\nlearned to live a positive life, live by example and to be a positive\nexample for others to do the same,\u201d Diamond said. \u201cI grew up in a\nfamily where respect and doing what is right is very important, and\nyou have to own what you&#8217;ve done no matter what the consequences.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For\nthe record, NETC educates and trains those who serve, providing the\ntools and opportunities which enable life-long learning, professional\nand personal growth and development, ensuring fleet readiness and\nmission accomplishment.<br><br>NETC\nis made up of six commands that provide a continuum of professional\neducation and training in support of Surface Navy requirements that\nprepare enlisted sailors and officers to serve at sea, providing\napprentice and specialized skills training to 7,500 sailors a\nyear.<br><br>A\nkey element of the Navy the nation needs is tied to the fact that\nAmerica is a maritime nation, and that the nation\u2019s prosperity is\ntied to the ability to operate freely on the world\u2019s oceans. More\nthan 70 percent of the Earth\u2019s surface is covered by water; 80\npercent of the world\u2019s population lives close to a coast; and 90\npercent of all global trade by volume travels by sea.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The\nstatement said Diamond plays an important role in America\u2019s focus\non rebuilding military readiness, strengthening alliances and\nreforming business practices in support of National Defense\nStrategy.<br><br>\u201cOur\npriorities center on people, capabilities and processes, and will be\nachieved by our focus on speed, value, results and partnerships,\u201d\nsaid Secretary of the Navy Richard V.
