In 48 hours from now, the curtains leading to the official unveiling of BBROOD, a famous dutch bakery and bread company would have been declared open in Nairobi by the Dutch Ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Frans Makken. Everything looks set and ready as journalists are invited for the coverage on Saturday, May 7th at 3:00 PM at Total, Magadi Road, Nairobi

As stated above, the first BBROOD bakery and bread shop in Kenya will officially open on May 7th in Nairobi. The Dutch bakery chain is already operating in Uganda and Rwanda. BBROOD is very excited about its expansion to Kenya, East-Africa’s largest economy. The company aims to open four different shops before the end of the year.

Five years after BBROOD set up shop in Uganda, the long-awaited expansion to Kenya has come true. “It took us quite a while to find a good location in Nairobi,” Renee Pater, founder of BBROOD, explained. “But we are extremely pleased with the premises we found; next to the Total station at Magadi road. Here we both bake our products and sell them. We have also acquired an outlet at Sarit shopping centre in Westlands,” said Pater. After three months of renovation the bakery is now up and running. It uses ovens and provers which were imported from South Africa.

BBROOD Kenya will be launched in attendance of the Dutch ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Frans Makken. “The arrival of BBROOD is a welcome addition to the many Dutch businesses in Kenya,” the ambassador said. “The large Dutch expatriate community in Kenya will definitely find its way to BBROOD, but also Kenyan consumers can now taste the high-quality products of the company,” he added. Some 300 Dutch companies are already operating in Kenya, according to the ambassador.

BBROOD has created 20 jobs in Kenya, a number which may increase rapidly when more outlets are opened. BBROOD also provides jobs to 80 people in Uganda and Rwanda while five Kenyan bakers received training in The Netherlands or Uganda.

When BBROOD started in 2011 in Uganda, some 80 percent of the customers were expatriates. Now the company has 6 branches in Uganda and 2 in Rwanda. “I feel also the Ugandans and the Rwandans start appreciating our products now,” Pater said. “Now the customers are divided 50/50 between local customers and expatriates.” Her expectations of operations in Kenya are high. “Nairobi is the most advanced city in the region and it also has a large expat community. I am sure the concept will be successful here, simply because our bread tastes better.”

BBROOD’s main products are croissants and multigrain bread. But also spelt bread is on increasingly high demand. BBROOD has been in operation since 2009. It has seven shops in Amsterdam and an additional 4 sales outlets. There are also sales outlets in Haarlem and The Hague. BBROOD is growing fast and its products are quite specific; they are a bit more expensive than bread from the large-scale bakery’s but they are made in the traditional way.

Kenyans Celebrate First Dutch Bakery Bread Shop…Africans Besiege Nairobi to Witness Grand Ceremony *BBROOD firm creates 20 jobs in Kenya, main products are croissants and multigrain bread *Provides Jobs for 80 people in Uganda/Rwanda, Five Kenyan Bakers on Training in The Netherlands * Media Coverage Takes Place Saturday May 7 at 3:00pm @ Total, Magadi […]

[107

post-11730","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-africa
["GET
