This raging controversy surrounds the authenticity and validity of his degree from London School of Business in 1980; bearing in mind he attended Government Secondary School,\u00a0<a title=\"Bama, Nigeria\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bama,_Nigeria\">Bama<\/a>\u00a0(1974\u20131979)<b> <\/b>and in 1981, he joined his father\u2019s company as a director, later becoming Managing Director.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Modu Sheriff\u2019s profile reads in Wikipedia: \u201cAli Modu Sheriff was born in\u00a0<a title=\"Ngala\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ngala\">Ngala<\/a>\u00a0Town, Ngala Local Government Area, Borno State in 1956. His father was the business tycoon Galadima Modu Sheriff. He attended Government Secondary School,\u00a0<a title=\"Bama, Nigeria\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bama,_Nigeria\">Bama<\/a>\u00a0(1974\u20131979). He attended the\u00a0<a title=\"London Business School\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/London_Business_School\">London School of Business<\/a>, where he studied Insurance, Banking and Finance. In 1981, he joined his father&#8217;s construction company as a Director, later becoming Managing Director. In 1985, he registered his first company. His companies include Meroil Organisation and Union Chase.<\/p>\n<p>In 1990, he became a member of the\u00a0<a title=\"Social Democratic Party (Nigeria)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Social_Democratic_Party_(Nigeria)\">Social Democratic Party<\/a>\u00a0(SDP). In 1997, he joined the\u00a0<a title=\"National Republican Convention\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Republican_Convention\">National Republican Convention<\/a>\u00a0(NRC). He was a member of the Constitutional Conference and chaired the committee on states and local government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still in Wikipedia, his political career in Nigeria read: \u201cAli Modu Sheriff was elected Senator representing Borno Central on the platform of the\u00a0<a title=\"United Nigeria Congress Party\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Nigeria_Congress_Party\">United Nigeria Congress Party<\/a>\u00a0(UNCP) during General\u00a0<a title=\"Sani Abacha\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sani_Abacha\">Sani Abacha<\/a>&#8216;s military regime. After democracy was restored, in April 1999 he was again elected Senator, Borno Central on the platform of the\u00a0<a title=\"All Nigeria Peoples Party\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All_Nigeria_Peoples_Party\">All Nigeria Peoples Party<\/a>\u00a0(ANPP). In 2003, he ran for Governor of Borno State on the ANPP platform and won. He was re-elected in 2007 and sworn in on 29 May, 2007. In both cases, he defeated the PDP candidate\u00a0<a title=\"Kashim Ibrahim-Imam\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kashim_Ibrahim-Imam\">Kashim Ibrahim-Imam<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Disclaimer by British Varsity<\/b><\/p>\n<pre><b><i>Naija Standard<\/i><\/b><b> <\/b>investigation revealed that this educational certificate claimed to have been acquired by Modu Sheriff for his entire political career may allegedly be \u2018fake.\u2019 In an inquiry sent to London Business School and Finance regarding the studentship status of Modu Sheriff, Sue Hoof, Director of Accreditations &amp; Compliance, London Business School and Finance-FCMA, CGMA, MAAT, PGCE replied our American Editors: \u201cWe were only established as a college in 2003 and so he could not have studied with us in 1980. I am unable to verify this.\u201d<\/pre>\n<pre><\/pre>\n<pre> Similarly, we wrote to London Business School, <b><i>Naija Standard<\/i><\/b> got a reply where the institution decided to keep sealed mum and diplomatically shift the answer to \u00a0London School of Business and Finance; a varsity that earlier distanced itself from ever awarding any degree as stated above.\u201d<\/pre>\n<p><b><i>Naija Standard<\/i> writes University of London<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Also, we have written to University of London, being that London Business School\u00a0(LBS) is a\u00a0<a title=\"Business school\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Business_school\">business school<\/a>\u00a0and a constituent college of the institution to verify the authenticity of Modu Sheriff\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>#EDITOR\u2019S NOTE: This means Ali Modu Sheriff, a former Governor of Borno State who recently acquired a <\/b><b>new Gulfstream jet G650 model worth about $72m (N11.5bn) had allegedly lied on \u2018Oath of Office\u2019 when he occupied several public positions in service to the people since 1997, when he joined the\u00a0<a title=\"National Republican Convention\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Republican_Convention\">National Republican Convention<\/a>\u00a0(NRC).
