THE WORLD IS PRAYING FOR A QUICK HEALING for United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, being treated for prostate cancer, after he suffered chronic complications, as he is presently in the Intensive Care Unit, I.C.U., of the prestigious from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


This position was confirmed according to a statement issued from the elite hospital on Tuesday.
The statement revealed that the cancer was discovered in early December. He underwent a \u201cminimally invasive surgical procedure\u201d on December 22 called a prostatectomy to treat the cancer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cHe was under general anesthesia during this procedure. Secretary Austin recovered uneventfully from his surgery and returned home the next morning. His prostate cancer was detected early, and his prognosis is excellent,\u201d the statement read.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


It was previously unclear if Austin had been under anesthesia during the procedure, which the Pentagon had not previously disclosed and did not alert the White House to.
The Pentagon had been facing intense questions after it was revealed on Friday that he had been admitted to Walter Reed on January 1 and had been hospitalized for days without notifying the public. It was subsequently reported that Biden, senior national security officials and even Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks \u2013 who had assumed Austin\u2019s duties \u2013 were not aware of the defense secretary\u2019s hospitalization until three days after he was admitted.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


On January 1, Austin was readmitted to the hospital due to complications \u201cincluding nausea with severe abdominal, hip and leg pain.\u201d He was found to have a urinary tract infection, the statement said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


For the last eight days of Austin\u2019s time at Walter Reed in treating the infection, he \u201cnever lost consciousness and never underwent general anesthesia.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
