He explained that a first batch of 14 deportees, made up of Nigerians, a Gambian and others, had already arrived in Accra, with the Ghanaian authorities facilitating their return to their respective countries.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-14955\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Ghana-three.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"827\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Ghana-three.jpg 777w, https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Ghana-three-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Ghana-three-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 827px) 100vw, 827px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>\u201cWe were approached by the US to accept third-party nationals who were being removed from the US, and we agreed with them that West African nationals were acceptable because all our fellow West Africans don\u2019t need a visa to come to our country,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>He justified the decision by saying West Africans \u201cdon\u2019t need a visa anyway\u201d to come to Ghana.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The arrangement comes amid Washington\u2019s intensified deportation drive under President Donald Trump, who has pushed for removals to \u201cthird countries\u201d as part of his hardline immigration policy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>A trusted source in Aso Rock, Nigeria\u2019s presidency under the condition of anonymity confided in our correspondent that \u201cNigeria is a Sovereign nation of the largest black race in the world. We cannot be bullied into serving as receivership to deported West African nationals from the United States. We have our integrity as a country which we guard jealously\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Trump has previously overseen deportations of migrants to Eswatini, South Sudan and Rwanda despite safety concerns raised by rights groups.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Nigeria, however, has rejected similar overtures from Washington.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, said in July that the Federal Government would not accept deportees from outside Nigeria, citing national security and economic concerns.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Trump hosted five West African leaders at the White House on July 9, where, according to Reuters, one of the key objectives was to persuade them to receive deportees from other countries.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>They include the leaders of Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania and Senegal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>DONATE TO HELP BUILD A SPECIAL APPS FOR JOURNALISTS AGAINST LIVER ELEVATION &amp; KIDNEY FAILURE:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>CERTAINLY, Good journalism costs a lot of money.
