The President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, has thrown an open challenge to the United States 47th<\/sup> President, Donald Trump, by issuing a warning that the elite Uganda Military Special Forces are fully prepared to harm, defeat the American Army in a ground war if such combat arises. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Museveni said that while the United States possesses overwhelming military superiority, including dominance at sea, in the air and in space, it could still be harmed in a ground confrontation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Museveni linked it to lessons from United States actions in Venezuela.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Museveni made the remarks while responding to a journalist\u2019s question on Pan-Africanism and what Africa can learn from Washington\u2019s recent military intervention in Venezuela.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Saying he was still studying developments in the South American country, Museveni noted that the situation nonetheless exposed critical gaps in the global security balance.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still watching, studying it. We shall learn more. But whatever the case is, you can see the gaps,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Ugandan leader argued that U.S. military strength lies in its ability to operate simultaneously across four domains, namely sea, air, space and land, unlike many countries it confronts.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Americans are operating from four dimensions. They are in the sea. The Latin Americans (Venezuelans)are not there; they don\u2019t have a navy,\u201d Museveni said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He added that the United States also dominates the air and space domains, giving it a decisive advantage long before any direct contact.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

However, Museveni said ground operations reduce that advantage and expose even powerful militaries to harm.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNow they are trying to come on land, which of course is very risky also for the Americans,\u201d he said. \u201cThere you come near, because even me, who has got a short range, I can harm you.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

*Strategic Imbalance:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Museveni explained that even on land, the imbalance remains because of U.S. surveillance and technological superiority.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou are seeing me in space, I\u2019m not seeing you. You are in the ocean, I\u2019m not there, I\u2019m here,\u201d he said, underscoring how weaker states are exposed across multiple fronts.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He said this strategic asymmetry was at the heart of Africa\u2019s vulnerability and a key argument for continental unity. Museveni traced the problem back to the failure of early Pan-African leaders to pursue collective security after independence.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat was our target in 1963,\u201d he said, referring to the push for African unity.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

According to him, the vision faltered because of political self-interest.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMwalimu (Julius Nyerere) was ready to move, but (Jomo) Kenyatta and (Apollo Milton) Obote decided to remain big fishes in small ponds,\u201d Museveni said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He concluded that the crisis in Venezuela illustrates why Africa must revive Pan-African cooperation, particularly in security, to avoid remaining strategically exposed in an increasingly militarized global order.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
