\n\"Nigeria-politics\"<\/a>\u201cEND<\/strong> of the road may have come politically for Murtala Nyako, the former governor of Adamawa State who once ruled the state like his personal property by allegedly appointing his wife, son-in-law, girlfriend, among others into plum positions in the state\u201d, in a bid to looting the state blind of the tax payers\u2019 hard earned resources.<\/p>\n

To say, the former Chief of Naval Staff may end up in jail at the end of this raging financial crisis which has torn into pieces his remaining integrity is stating the obvious.<\/p>\n

Nyako Weeps, Loot over N2bn in 10 months <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having been found guilty of 16 out of 20 allegations leveled against him and impeached by Adamawa State House of Assembly (ASHA) few days ago, a reliable close to the former governor who would not want his name in print since he is not authorized, told Naija Standard<\/em><\/strong> that Nyako pressed all \u2018buttons\u2019, did all to cajole the lawmakers to dismiss the impeachment threat, but the lawmakers held their ground. And after his impeachment, our source said: \u201cNyako could not sleep, he wept like a baby because he knows he has lost immunity against arrest. I can tell you that few hours to his impeachment; all his security details-including police orderlies were withdrawn. He became like a common man on the streets. He could hardly sleep, fearing that anti-graft agency like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) could pick him up any time.\u201d His Deputy, quickly resigned due to the shame.<\/p>\n

Naija Standard<\/em><\/strong> gathered that in 10 months, the \u2018shameful-politician\u2019 allegedly squandered over the sum of N2bn using his son-in-law as a front who earlier took charge of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) projects which ought to breathe fresh life and hope to the less privileged people in the state, by empowering them with jobs. Rather, a \u2018fictitious\u2019 N2bn loan re-payment was created through another phony commercial bank account in the state. Huge funds, our correspondents learnt exchanged \u2018hands\u2019 which allegedly ended in Nyako\u2019s secretly \u2018coded account\u2019.<\/p>\n

Unknown to Nyako, while this \u2018fake-wealth accumulation\u2019 lasted, the lawmakers had compiled a list of his infamous financial misdeeds through a mole in the commercial bank, a lady (names with held) an alleged acquaintance of the erstwhile governor who squealed the full details of the financial scam of the former chief security officer of Adamawa State to the some of the legislators.<\/p>\n

The report cited the office of the MDGs being managed by Dr Salihu Bakari, the son in-law to the governor, as being behind the fictitious N2 billion loan repayments between the office and one commercial bank in the state.<\/p>\n

Nyako, contrary to laws appointed one of his wives as the state chairperson of the State Action Committee on AIDS (SACA), in a bid to loot more money. The lawmakers indicted Nyako in this regard with verifiable evidence.<\/p>\n

Before this report, was eventually urged to be adopted by Honorable Jerry Kumdisi, ably supported by Honorable Laori, who also commented on the same matter, adding that the assembly had met the two-third requirements needed to adopt the report which indicted the governor, undercover investigation by our Naija Standard<\/em><\/strong> showed how Nyako allegedly fund terrorism with state-resources, under the cover of darkness.<\/p>\n

Our Correspondents can assuredly tell you that Nyako allegedly combined his monthly security votes and huge parts of funds stashed away in the commercial bank to support Boko Haram acquisition of brand new \u2018Hilux\u2019 vehicles, ammunitions, bombs and assorted weapons-in a bid to cause confusion in Northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n

EFCC Steps up plan to arrest embattled former Gov <\/strong><\/p>\n

It was in view of all these stunning revelations, that EFCC placed an embargo on the state accounts, and set up plans to grill Nyako for financial crimes including his alleged diversion of local government funds, terrorism and felony.<\/p>\n

To ensure that Nyako has no escape route, the anti-graft agency has spread their dragnets to the mansion of the former governor, increased surveillance at the airport, border, his mobile phones have been bugged with daily collection of all his call-logs through the mobile carriers service trackers.<\/p>\n
