She admitted to the crime, pleaded for mercy and blamed the Devil for deceiving her into engaging in criminality for lucre.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-15857\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canada-nigeria-four.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"817\" height=\"490\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) intercepted a 1,600 kg commercial shipment arriving from Nigeria at Toronto Pearson International Airport. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>During inspection, officials found seven fraudulent passports-five from The Gambia and two from South Africa-concealed inside sandals within the shipment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>All seven forged passports bore the same photograph of a male but contained different names and inconsistent biographical information.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-15856\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canada-nigeria-two.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"818\" height=\"458\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) Toronto Airport Detachment Border Integrity Unit took over the investigation and charged Nnenna Oketa with knowingly possessing a forged passport (contrary to section 57(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>As of mid-April 2026, the investigation is ongoing, and the allegations have not yet been tested in court.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-15855\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canada-nigeria-one.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"818\" height=\"765\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>This case is part of an ongoing effort to combat document fraud and protect Canadian border integrity. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The inspection of the shipment led the eagle-eyed border agency officers to the discovery of seven fraudulent documents concealed inside sandals.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-15858\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canada-nigeria-three.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"819\" height=\"460\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The CBSA said in the statement, \u201cThe Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Federal Policing \u2013 Central Region has charged a resident of Caledon, Ontario after the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) detected and seized multiple fraudulent passports at Toronto Pearson International Airport commercial operations.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-15859\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canada-nigeria-five.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"821\" height=\"505\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201cThe investigation began after a CBSA Border Services Officer referred a 1,600 kg shipment arriving from Nigeria for examination. During the examination, CBSA officers located seven fraudulent documents concealed inside sandals. These were five fraudulent passports from the Republic of the Gambia and two from South Africa.
