Someone could be hale and hearty now, after a few hours or few days or months, same person could fall sick and may never recover from such ailments. But, millions of Nigerians are praying for divine healing and God-sent favour for Okeogun born ex-Togo Ambassador and former editor-in-chief of The Guardian Newspapers, Debo Adesina who is fighting for his life to survive the deadly bout of stroke which he suffered barely few weeks after his arrival in Canada on a visit to his wife and children. He had been confined to the bed in the hospital and unconscious ever after then. More worrisome is the accruable bills generated from the medical center for Debo\u2019s treatment now over TWO HUNDRED AND FIVE THOUSAND CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $205,000).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-16081\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriastandardnewspaper.com\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DEBO-ADESINA-two.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"861\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Unable to bear the huge burden alone, Oluyemisi Debo-Adesina, the wife is crying out and appealed to President Bola Tinubu for financial help to ease the burden of medical expenses incurred following the veteran journalist\u2019s recent stroke ordeal and to support his full recovery.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mrs Debo-Adesina\u2019s appeal is contained in a letter on Sunday titled, \u201cUrgent Appeal for Support for H.E Adebowale (Debo) Adesina, Former Nigerian Ambassador To Togo, \u201caddressed to Mr. Tinubu.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>She said the former envoy suffered a stroke on July 9 and remained hospitalised barely 15 days after arriving in Canada to visit her and their children.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The wife of the former Nigerian ambassador stated that her husband was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Trillium Hospital, Mississauga, from July 9 to August 11, and was later transferred to Etobicoke General Hospital, where he has remained under medical care. Mrs Debo-Adesina stated, \u201cBy the grace of God, and following a prolonged period in an induced coma, Debo is gradually beginning to emerge from the coma.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201cHis condition, however, remains very serious, and he continues to require intensive medical attention, monitoring and care. We remain hopeful and prayerful for his full recovery.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201cShe appealed to Mr. Tinubu to assist the family to settle Mr. Adesina\u2019s accumulated medical bills, which according to her, had exceeded CAD $205,000 as of August 24, with the debt rising daily.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201cThis prolonged hospitalization has placed an enormous and rapidly increasing financial burden on our family.
