HE is visibly worried, troubled and on panic mode right now, since reality comes to him that the princely sum of Two Hundred and Twenty-Four Million Dollars ($224 million) cash he sunk into the Texas\u2019 Republican party\u2019s midterm election had produced \u2018soured taste in the mouth\u2019 and gone down the drain. Elon Musk regarded the world\u2019s richest man is not taking the dismal performance of the GOP lightly as he wondered aloud why his Starlink\u2019s internet election-interfering space lasers didn\u2019t work this time. And he is having more anxiety presently that with Democrats resuming as leaders of the new Congress in the House of Representatives and Senate, his piles of companies could be toasted in serious scrutiny, aggressive investigations, which may eventually lead to contracts\u2019 termination in the Pentagon.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The entrepreneur, who first announced his investment in July, spent more than half of that money on Texas candidates. Elon Musk is reacting after he backed Republican candidates in the midterm election to the tune of $474 million only for the majority of them to lose in a stunning rebuke by voters. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGuess my election-interfering space lasers didn\u2019t work this time,\u201d Musk, 55, posted to X on Monday, Nov. 4, shortly after Texas elected James Talarico to the U.S. Senate, voted Gina Hinojosa as its new governor and elevated a slate of other Democrats to statewide office.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

One minute earlier, Musk joked on X: \u201cData centers in space looking pretty appealing right now.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The entrepreneur who moved the Tesla, SpaceX and X headquarters to Texas after his own move there in 2020-was counting on candidates Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton and Dan Patrick to win and continue the Republicans\u2019 three-decade-long stronghold over the state.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

According to campaign finance records analyzed by CNBC, Musk gave nearly half of his contribution -about $224 million- to Texas candidates.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After garnering 55% of the vote, Talarico, 37, specifically targeted Musk in his victory speech. \u201cWe just sent a message to every billionaire mega-donor, every trillionaire mega-donor, every corrupt defender of this broken political system,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In July, Musk abruptly changed course and reinvested in politics after stepping away following a feud with President Donald Trump.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

But the pair seemingly mended fences, appearing together at Charlie Kirk\u2018s memorial service in September 2025 and traveling to China together during Trump\u2019s state visit with President Xi Jinping in May.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Trump senior political adviser James Blair, who previously served as the White House deputy chief of staff from 2025 to 2026, told Axios in July that Musk\u2019s operation was \u201can essential partner\u201d in the 2024 presidential election and would be a \u201chuge boost\u201d to Republicans this year.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day,\u201d Blair said at the time. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
