Why was he not administered preventive medication-at least to stabilize his health and prolong his life? Why was experimental drug that had never been used or tried on any human being used on Eric? To them (the family), Eric was treated as Guinea-Pig for experiment. That was why when he was diagnosed with Ebola at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/morning-mix\/wp\/2014\/10\/01\/ebola-patient-being-treated-at-the-15th-best-hospital-in-texas\/\">Texas Presbyterian Hospital<\/a>\u00a0in Dallas on Sept. 28, he had already been sent home once from the hospital with antibiotics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After returning home to his fianc\u00e9\u2019s family \u2014 which would later endure\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/to-your-health\/wp\/2014\/10\/20\/dallas-officials-plead-for-compassion-not-stigma-as-43-leave-ebola-isolation\/\">a 21-day quarantine<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 Duncan was brought back to the hospital in an ambulance after vomiting on the sidewalk in front of his apartment building and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/to-your-health\/wp\/2014\/10\/16\/dallas-nurse-nina-pham-will-be-transferred-to-nih-facility-in-bethesda-maryland\/\">exposing two nurses<\/a>\u00a0to Ebola, he died barely two weeks after.<\/p>\n<p>Lamenting, Duncan\u2019s nephew Josephus Weeks\u00a0reportedly said: \u201cWe asked. We begged. We pleaded. I even offered my own blood to the hospital, even though it wouldn\u2019t do anything. We requested everything we could think of to save Eric. They said no. Unlike some other Ebola patients provided state-of-the-art experimental treatments and swept to advanced medical facilities\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/dallas-nurse-treated-for-ebola-at-nih-now-virus-free\/2014\/10\/24\/91355cd2-5b8c-11e4-bd61-346aee66ba29_story.html\">like the National Institutes of Health (NIH)<\/a>, Duncan was poor. He had no insurance. And he was black.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, after alleging that Texas Presbyterian had not done right by Duncan, his family has reached what its attorneys called a \u201cresolution\u201d with the health-care facility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duncan\u2019s family in Peace Moves with Dallas Hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Naija Standard<\/em><\/strong> learnt to avoid any acrimony among the larger African community in Dallas and stop any undue racial-coloration to this crisis, the Duncan family had reached out to the Presby\u2019s Hospital in the interest of \u2018peace and co-existence\u2019 in the Dallas community.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement issued by the law offices of Miller Weisbrod, Duncan\u2019s family will hold a press\u00a0conference on Wednesday morning \u201cregarding a resolution they have reached on behalf of the children and parents of the deceased with Texas Health Resources and all related entities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One health-care expert questioned the choice of an experimental drug used to treat Duncan \u2014 and the delay in providing it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REVEALED!
