The inciting and threat statement allegedly made openly by Oba Rilwan Akiolu, \nOba of Lagos against the Ndi Igbo of Lagos  at his palace has continually being generating a heated debate across the length and\n breadth of Nigeria, even outside the shores of the country. National executives of Igbo Ekulie, a group of Igbo intellectuals,\n technocrats in both formal and informal sectors of the Nigeria economy ready to defend the rights of Ndi Igbo made this\n shocking revelation.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Igbo Natives Fight Back...Draws Battle Line against  Oba of Lagos<\/b><\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In an open letter directed to outgoing  President Goodluck Jonathan and in-coming President elect, General Muhammadu \nBuhari, national executives of Igbo Ekulie led by Chief Okechukwu OC Sam Okeke and Engineer Joey. N Chuku both\n General Secretary\/President, in a joint communique, their statement read: \u201cWe wish to observe the present unhealthy\n utterances and threat to life by Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu against Ndi Igbo especially on their voting pattern in the\n coming Governorship Election coming up this Saturday 11th April 2015. <\/span><\/span>\n\n\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Oba Akiolu was quoted in most of the National media today, Monday 6<sup>th<\/sup> April 2015 as directing Ndi Igbo in\n Lagos State to vote massively for his anointed and handpicked candidate, Mr. Ambode Akinwunmi of\n All Peoples Congress (APC) vowing to deal ruthlessly with Ndi Igbo residents in Lagos state if such directive\n is not strictly adhered to this coming Governorship Election. According to him, if the Igbos did not vote for his \ncandidate, all of them will perish inside the Lagoon.<\/span><\/span>\n\n\n\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Speaking at a meeting with Igbo Leaders in the state, the First class Monarch who fails to recognize the\n metropolitan nature of Lagos purportedly said \u201cOn Saturday, if any one of you goes against Ambode whom \nI picked, that is your end. If it doesn\u2019t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and is not my\n father who gave birth to me. If any one of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode\n will be the next Governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside the water. The future belongs to God.\n I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don\u2019t do it here. \nIf you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you, if you go against my wish, you will perish\n in the water.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Igbo Ekulie Position against Oba of Lagos<\/b><\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Their statement reads: \u201cThis death threat must not be taken lightly. It must be seen for what it is:\n A dangerous threat and plot calculated to pain Ndi Igbo black to scheme them out of Political relevance. \nSuch threat by an influential first class Yoruba traditional Ruler cannot be accepted by Ndi Igbo. \nWe are sounding a note of warning to Oba Rilwan Akiolu and his conspirators behind this evil agenda to \ndesist from it because if their plan succeeds, the Igbo nation will rise up and fight for their right and\n self determination in this country which make the Political and Economic future of Nigeria very uncertain\n and precarious. For a first class traditional\n ruler in Nigeria he should not say he does not know the implication of his statement.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Traditional rulers are the\n custodians of our culture. They are respected due to their immense contribution to peace and unity of Nigeria.\n They are not to be seen as being Partisan as Oba Akiolu is <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">now behaving.<\/span><\/span>\n\n\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We have handed over Oba Akiolu the fate and lives of Ndi Igbo residing in his domain. If anything happens to\n them before, during and after this coming election, he will be held responsible because of his call for anarchy,\n chaos and bloodletting should his anointed candidate fail the Governorship elections comes April 11th 2015.\n He should be reminded that only God gives and takes life and not mortals like us. In spite of this, Ndi Igbo \nwill not accept any death threat, mishap on any of its citizen by anybody no matter how highly placed before,\n during and after the coming Governorship election anywhere in the country.<\/span><\/span>\n\n\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We call on President Goodluck  Ebele Jonathan and President-Elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari \nto call Oba Akiolu to order before he will destroy the calm and peace presently being enjoyed throughout\n the country after the smooth conduct of Presidential election. He should be cautioned to stop heating the\n polity with his political utterance. Our calm and love for peace should not be construed as an act of \ncowardice as every ethnic group in Nigeria knows the Igbo man fighting spirit any time.<\/span><\/span>\n\n\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Oba Akiolu should be made to retract his statement, apologize to Ndi  Igbo for this threat if he does not \nwant to invoke the wrath of Ndi Igbo in Lagos. These further points to a devious plot by<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">some Powerful forces within Lagos State to portray Ndi Igbo as enemies<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">of the project called Nigeria. They tend to put the Igbo Nation at<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">cross road and war with the incoming administration of Major General<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Muhammadu Buhari even when he has not been sworn into office.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">On Population front, Oba Akiolu should be reminded that Ndi Igbo<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">constitutes more than 40% of the state population and therefore must<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">be treated with utmost respect by canvassing for their vote peacefully<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">because of the electoral value they have instead of empty threats. In<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">a democratic setting like ours, people freely choose whom to vote for<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">irrespective of ethnic or Political affiliation. Ndi Igbo should be<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">left to enjoy that right where ever they registered to vote in<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Nigeria.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>OUR STAND AND POSITION<\/b><\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">This death threat must not be taken lightly. Lagos is what it is today due<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">to the doggedness and resilience of Ndi Igbo who has invested<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">massively to the infrastructural development of Lagos State.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We totally condemn Oba Akiolu for his incitement of a mass genocide<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">against Ndi Igbo. If anything happens to them before, during and after<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">this coming election, he will be held responsible because of his call<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">for anarchy, chaos and bloodletting should his anointed candidate fail<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the Governorship elections comes April 11th 2015. He should be<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">reminded that only God gives and takes life and not mortals like us.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In spite of this, Ndi Igbo will not accept any death threat, mishap on<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">any of its citizen by anybody no matter how highly placed before,<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">during and after the coming Governorship election anywhere in the<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">country.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We call on President Goodluck  Ebele Jonathan and President-Elect,<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Major General Muhammadu Buhari to call Oba Akiolu to order before he<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">will destroy the calm and peace presently being enjoyed  throughout<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the country after the smooth conduct of Presidential election. He<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">should be cautioned to stop heating the polity with his political<\/span><\/span>\n<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">utterance.
