\"Fayose<\/a>EKITI State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has thrown an open challenge to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to stop its ‘wild-goose chase’ or keep quiet if his government has no evidence as proof that he allegedly acquired mansions in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This outspoken governor pledged to waive his immunity as enshrined in Section 308 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution if he is found to have illegally corrupt himself and be ready to face prosecution in the court of law.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Fuming with anger, Fayose denies having any house in UAE and challenge anyone with a contrary view with evidence on any of the said-properties to publish the details. Making his position known through his Special Assistant on Public Affairs and New Media, Lere Olayinka, he described the on-going assassination of his character and allegation as the handiwork of his enemies and foes of Ekiti State. He said: \u201cIt is painful that the people who seized power in Nigeria through falsehood and propaganda were still lying to Nigerians eight months after assuming office. I am ready to waive my immunity and be prosecuted if any house is linked to me in Dubai. I am not a kind of person that will deny his assets. I am not among those lily-livered Nigerians that will deny their assets anywhere. They are in the Federal Government and they should have access to all information both in Nigeria and abroad. I therefore challenge them to check books on owners of all properties in Dubai. If they trace any house to me in Dubai, the Federal Government should should make public all the details including pictures, location and title documents.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe government should also confiscate such property as I am ready to waive my immunity to be prosecuted. No amount of falsehood and propaganda can silence me. They have taken their propaganda to the most ridiculous height and it is shameful that after taking over Nigeria by falsehood, they are still lying to deceive Nigerians just to cover up their lack of solution to the country’s economic problems.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Fayose dares Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture to make public the names of the 15 former governors and 55 Nigerians that he claimed stole N1.34 trillion between 2006 and 2013 or keep his mouth shut permanently, and avoid blowing hot air. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

His words: \u201cTruth is, Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government destroyed the economy within eight months in power and rather than look for solutions to the problems facing Nigeria, Lai Mohammed and his cohorts are branding bogus figures about stolen money just to cover up their lack of solution to the country\u2019s economic problems.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fayose expressed disappointment in the manner Olisa Metuh, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary was brought to court in handcuff. He explained: \u201cEven the masterminds of Mandala and Nyanya bomb blasts, Kabiru Sokoto and Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche were not handcuffed when they were arraigned in court.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lere Olayinka, Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the governor issued a press statement that it was funny that close to one year after it won the presidential election, the President Mohammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government was still operating as if it was campaigning for votes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The statement reads: \u201cThey are turning governance to Nollywood, such that when one movie is about to end, they release another one. As it appears that the $2.1 billion arms deal movie is getting to an end, Lai Mohammed introduced another movie titled; N1.34 trillion loot.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately for them this time around, Nigerians have become tired of watching the Federal Government movies, they now want reality. Nigerians are now aware of the scam in the $2.1 billion arms deal movie having seen that the amount those already charged to court were charged with is not more than N10 billion and $2.1 billion is over N600 billion.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, Lai Mohammed must either tell Nigerians details of the 15 former governors and 55 people that he claimed stole N1.34 trillion, where the stolen money is kept and bring back the money or apologize to Nigerians for lying.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Describing the persistent claim by the federal government that PDP destroyed Nigeria for 16 years as hypocritical, Governor Fayose said Nigerians must begin to ask which party majority of those presently ruling the country under the APC government were between 1999 and 2014.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Fayose: \u201cMajority of those who ran the Federal Government between 1999 and 2003 under the PDP are in the APC government today. President, vice president, ministers, governors, senators and House of Reps members who were part of the PDP government are now in APC. Yet, APC keeps telling Nigerians that PDP ruined the country. This hypocrisy must stop. Due process of the law must be followed in fighting corruption, disobedience to court orders itself is a criminal offence that is more grievous than corruption. No amount of harassment and intimidation will silence opposition in the country. President Buhari and his men should rather get used to the reality that opposition must exist in a democracy.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
