ELIZABETH NENE AMACHAGHI, a-44year old Nigerian had visited United States of America on B1\/B2 Visa two years ago, few months to the 2016 Presidential elections. In a clear breach of United States Immigration law, Elizabeth had lied to electoral officers, as she queued, registered and voted as a United States citizen.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Elizabeth and 18 other foreign nationals were arrested and charged with illegal voting during 2016 election. Justice Department said Nineteen foreign nationals have been charged with illegal voting in the 2016 election.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The defendants are from numerous countries, including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria and Germany. Some of them were charged in an indictment handed down by a federal grand jury in Wilmington, N.C. They were accused of filing a false claim of citizenship in order to register, and then voting. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Others were charged separately for illegally voting: <\/strong><\/span>
\nThe announcement comes amid an intense debate at the state level over voter fraud and efforts by Republican lawmakers to impose voter ID restrictions. It would be recalled that President Donald Trump of United States has long claimed widespread voting fraud took place in the 2016 election, an assertion that has not been substantiated. But Democrats argue voting fraud is not a widespread problem.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Those charged in the latest plots, according to the DOJ, include: <\/strong><\/span>

\nGuadalupe Espinosa-Pena, age 63, of Mexico<\/strong><\/span>
\nSarah Emilia Silverio-Polanco, age 35, of the Dominican Republic<\/strong><\/span>
\nElizabeth Nene Amachaghi, age 44, of Nigeria<\/strong><\/span>
\nMaria Rufina Castillo-Boswell, age 31, of Philippines<\/strong><\/span>
\nDora Maybe Damatta-Rodriguez, age 64, of Panama<\/strong><\/span>
\nElvis David Fullerton, age 54, of Grenada<\/strong><\/span>
\nOlive Agatha Martin, age 71, of Guyana<\/strong><\/span>
\nKaoru Sauls, age 54, of Japan<\/strong><\/span>
\nJose Jaime Ramiro-Torres, age 52, of El Salvador<\/strong><\/span>
\nJuan Francisco Landeros-Mireles, age 64, of Mexico<\/strong><\/span>
\nAlessandro Cannizzaro, age 46, of Italy<\/strong><\/span>
\nDieudonne Soifils, age 71, of Haiti<\/strong><\/span>
\nHyo Suk George, age 69, of Korea<\/strong><\/span>
\nMerius Jean, age 54, of Haiti<\/strong><\/span>
\nRosemarie Angelika Harris, age 60, of Germany<\/strong><\/span>
\nDaniel Tadeusz Romanowski, age 39, of Poland<\/strong><\/span>
\nDiana Patricia Franco-Rodriguez, age 26, of Mexico<\/strong><\/span>
\nRamon Esteban Paez-Jerez, age 58, of Dominican Republic<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Justice Department said the grand jury also returned an indictment against a 20th person, 66-year-old Denslo Allen Paige, for allegedly aiding and abetting another defendant, Espinosa-Pena, in falsely claiming United States citizenship in order to register to vote. <\/strong><\/span>
\nThe cases are being investigated by a taskforce in North Carolina led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations, and assisted by Enforcement Removal Operations, and the Department of State – Diplomatic Security Service.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
