Those\naccounts were opened in the course of normal operations by the Lagos\nState Government for its administrative purposes and not for the\nformer governor\u2019s personal transactions as was being wrongly\ninsinuated and have been operated to ensure smooth operations of\ngovernment activities by previous and present administrations&#8217;-Habib\nAruna, Media aide<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>BY FEMI OMILADE\/SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT, LAGOS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FORMER LAGOS STATE\nGOVERNOR, AKINWUNMI AMBODE has dissociated himself away from the\nalleged statement made by Nigeria&#8217;s leading anti-corruption agency,\nEconomic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, stating that he has\nno business link whatsoever with the N9.9billion claimed by the law\nenforcement body to have been traced to some bank accounts of the\nstate. <\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambode said none of his\naccounts contained N9.9bn let alone being frozen by the EFCC. He said\nin the spirit of Sallah and having served Lagos State well, his\nrecord was clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement on Friday by\nhis media aide, Habib Aruna, Ambode said he did not intend to join\nissues with the anti-corruption agency as there had not been any\ncommunication between him and the commission on the issue. He added\nthat he, however, wanted to clear his name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the former\ngovernor, the accounts frozen by the Federal High Court belong to the\nLagos State Government and not him or any individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His words: <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Those\naccounts were opened in the course of normal operations by the Lagos\nState Government for its administrative purposes and not for the\nformer governor\u2019s personal transactions as was being wrongly\ninsinuated and have been operated to ensure smooth operations of\ngovernment activities by previous and present administrations.
