COVID-19\nPANDEMIC:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AMID\nTHE CHALLENGES facing the world in the health sector regarding the\nhardship generated by Coronavirus, a Nigerian pastor, Ambassador\nEphraim Ononye, the founder of Power House and Ephraim Ononye\nMinistries Worldwide, an interdenominational assembly has expressed\nanger over pastors who demand that tithes and offerings should be\npaid online by their members during this trial period in the country.\nHe described it as \u201csatanic, greed dangerous.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador\nEphraim, in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, wondered how\nsomebody who claims to be a man of God would have such greedy thought\nthat members from his church should send tithe and offering to him or\nto the church account by transfer, asking: \u201cWhat kind of wickedness\nis that? Most of these pastors are only interested in making money\nfrom members, how to fill their pockets and extort from members.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/strong>Where\ndo those pastors involved expect their members to get the money from\nwhen markets are closed down, most offices are not working and civil\nservants do not go to work instead of being concern about their\nwelfare and well being in this trial period?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ephraim, who is reputed to be\nendowed with an Apostolic gift of deliverance said he felt so bad\nwhen he read on Internet that Pastors were telling their members not\nto forget to pay their tithe\/offering through online banking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInstead\nof proffering solutions to the deadly disease in the country during\nthis trial period when people are dying of starvation, they are\nmaking such demands. Those pastors are wicked and heartless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cleric revealed in one of\nhis recent publications addressing church goers that miracles are not\nfor sale, while advising them to stop giving money to pastors for\nprayers and miracles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAccording\nto him, only ignorant church goers give money to pastors and prophets\nfor prayers and miracles, adding: \u201cMiracles are free, don\u2019t allow\nyourself to be fooled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Referring\nto pastors who own schools, particularly Universities, he lamented\nthat the schools are built with the same money made from the\ncongregation yet their members cannot afford to pay the fees in those\nsame schools.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow\ncan you build a school with money raised from the church and the\nschool fees are so high that the poor members of their church cannot\nafford to school in them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\nblamed those he called the \u201cbig men of God\u201d who he said are the\nproblem of the church, adding that all they are after is to build\nmansions, fly private jets and answer the richest pastors in the\nworld while the church members are dying of starvation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese\nso-called big men of God don\u2019t care if their members don\u2019t have\nenough to eat but all they are after is extorting money from them and\ndemanding online tithe\/offering from members in this trying period.\nThey are from the pit of hell. Anybody telling you to bring money for\nprayers is evil and not of God,\u201d Ambassador Ephraim said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He therefore enjoined the\nFederal Government to set up a task force investigate the activities\nof the pastors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the state of the nation,\nAmbassador Ephraim expressed hope that the viral virus will become\nhistory very soon and asked individual to stop panicking but advised\nthem to pray and exercise faith in God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
