Ciavarella accepted bribes from a private prison contractor to convict young blacks and have them sent to for-profit\u00a0for \u2018Cash for Kids\u2019 scheme \u2018Juvenile Detention Centers\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>During the course of the scandal, Ciavarella made over $1 million to keep the privately-owned juvenile centers packed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Fake 4,000 convictions<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Upon his conviction, all 4,000 convictions given by Ciavarella were dismissed by Supreme Court\u2019s Pennsylvania the grounds of him violating constitutional rights, like the right to Legal Counsel.<\/p>\n<p>In an amoral pursuit of\u00a0<a title=\"Click to Continue &gt; by Discount Buddy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ringoffireradio.com\/2013\/08\/crooked-pa-judge-receives-28-year-prison-sentence-for-selling-kids-to-jails\/\">money<\/a>, the former judge gave excruciatingly heavy-handed sentences for insignificant crimes.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/boingboing.net\/2009\/02\/02\/judges-jailed-for-ta.html\">On one occasion<\/a>, he gave a teenage girl a three-month jail sentence for making a MySpace page that \u201cmocked her school\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ringoffireradio.com\/2013\/08\/crooked-pa-judge-receives-28-year-prison-sentence-for-selling-kids-to-jails\/\">assistant principal<\/a>.\u201d A three month sentence for making fun of someone is absurd and absolutely unwarranted. Some of the children that Ciavarella sentenced to jail were as young as 10-years old, who were mostly accused of petty crimes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Court throws away accused former judge appeal<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Naija Standard<\/i><\/b> observed that <a href=\"http:\/\/citizensvoice.com\/news\/appeals-court-upholds-ciavarella-s-28-year-sentence-1.1494941\">Ciavarella filed an appeal<\/a>\u00a0before the Third\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ringoffireradio.com\/2013\/08\/crooked-pa-judge-receives-28-year-prison-sentence-for-selling-kids-to-jails\/\">Circuit Court<\/a>\u00a0of Appeals in Philadelphia, but the three-judge panel upheld the 28-year prison sentence, originally given by U.S District Judge Edwin Kosik. The panel highly praised Kosik\u2019s ruling against Ciavarella\u2019s corruption, calling it \u201cfair and impartial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the records, Ciavarella had a reputation of being \u201charsh and autocratic\u201d on the bench. This former judge abused the\u00a0<a title=\"Click to Continue &gt; by Discount Buddy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ringoffireradio.com\/2013\/08\/crooked-pa-judge-receives-28-year-prison-sentence-for-selling-kids-to-jails\/\">power<\/a> with which the state of Pennsylvania entrusted him.
