Nigeria’s Nollywood Actor, JOHN OKAFOR ‘Mr. IBU’ fights Death, Succumb at Evercare Hospital
…had leg amputation, barely able to talk, walk

THE NIGERIAN Entertainment industry practitioners and fans of Nollywood are sad and gloomy as a result of the demise of a popular movie actor, JOHN IBU, famously known as ‘Mr. IBU’, after fighting death consecutively and suffering excruciating pains due to the seven surgeries he had to undergo while he then tried to stay alive. Finally, he gave in to the cold hands of death.
At 62 years old, it was reported, the veteran comedian passed away at Evercare hospital. Many fans have shared condolences on X, reminiscing movies the late actor has featured.
It could be recalled in December 2023, Mr. Ibu was earlier reported to have undergone another leg amputation, was barely able to talk, walk as the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) revealed, while calling for prayers and support for the veteran.
By last year November, it was reported in the news media that the family of Mr. Ibu revealed that the actor had seven surgeries but to keep his hope of staying alive, one of his legs was amputated.
The family had said the actor successfully underwent five surgeries and would be flown abroad for further treatment before he finally passed on.
