EGYPTIAN Government has entered its name in world's Hall of Infamy as No. 1 enemy of the press, due to its hatred, attack, censure, open criminality against journalists, particularly in the context of the recent Satanic judgment issued against three practicing Al-jazeera pressmen for 'legally doing their media job of entertaining, educating and educating members of the public' of hidden truths and happenings in Cairo.
Baher Mohamed, Mohamed Fahmy and Peter Greste, some of the investigative journalists of Al-jazeera uncovering stories regarding various lawlessness been underwritten by Egyptian Government were lied against and set up in charges of allegedly “belonging to a defunct Muslim Brotherhood Club, covering stories on Egypt without their permission, among others.”
The allegedly corrupt Judge Hassan Farid obviously acting the script of Egyptian Government gave a demonic ruling to stop the press from beaming lights into the government's shady deals. So sad, this judge sentenced Baher, Mohamed to 3 years in prison each, while Peter earlier freed by same court for 'no case', made a U-turn and sentenced him in absentia also to same 3 years in prison.
Immediately after this evil ruling was given, tears flowed everywhere and emotions ran high seen Egypt criminalizing journalism and deliberately humiliating these innocent journalists.
Al-jazeera Management, European Union, United Nations flay ruling
Having globally condemned the ruling, United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights spokesman says “We are very disturbed by these 3 sentences and the extra pressure it creates on journalists in Egypt who are just doing their jobs.”
European Union regretted the ruling, said “The verdict represented a setback for Freedom of Expression in Egypt” Judge Farid in his ruling said he sentenced the men to prison at least partly because they have not registered with the country’s journalists ‘syndicate’ . The judge alleged the journalists brought in equipment without security officials’ approval, had broadcast ‘false news’ on Al-jazeera and used a hotel as a broadcasting point without permission”.
Al-jazeera Management condemns ruling...
Al-jazeera Media Network Acting Director-General, Dr. Mastefa Souag lamented: "Today's verdict defies logic and common sense. Our colleagues Baher Mohamed and Mohamed Fahmy will now have to return to prison, and Peter Greste is sentenced in absentia.
According to Mastefa, “The whole case has been heavily politicized and has not been conducted in a free and fair manner. There is no evidence proving that our colleagues in any way fabricated news or aided and abetted terrorist organisations and at no point during the long drawn out retrial did any of the unfounded allegations stand up to scrutiny. A report issued by a technical committee assigned by the court in Egypt contradicted the accusations made by the public prosecutor and stated in its report that the seized videos were not fabricated,. Baher, Peter and Mohamed have been sentenced despite the fact that not a shred of evidence was found to support the extraordinary and false charges against them.
"Today's verdict is yet another deliberate attack on press freedom. It is a dark day for the Egyptian judiciary; rather than defend liberties and a free and fair media they have compromised their independence for political reasons."
“Al Jazeera Media Network will continue to call for their freedom and an end to the ordeal for Baher, Peter and Mohamed and the six Al Jazeera staff who were sentenced in absentia.
“The support shown for Baher, Peter and Mohamed has been loud and unified and has come from every corner of the world, from world leaders, journalists, human rights organisations and the general public. Alongside demanding the release of our colleagues, Al Jazeera calls on every one to continue the fight for the freedom of speech, for the right of people to be informed and for the right of journalists
around the world to be able to do their job.
“We will not rest until Baher, Peter, Mohamed and the six Al Jazeera staff sentenced in absentia are freed and formally and definitively acquitted from the trumped up charges against them. Journalism is not a crime.”
