ATTITUDES of few Nigerians abroad are beginning to bring shame and opprobrium to the nation due to their constant desires to get rich quick. Their latest trick now overseas, especially in India is their ‘drug-network’ which spread between Malaysia and India. As a nail on the activities of this group defaming Nigeria, was the recent arrest of Henry Chinedu, 39 year old ringleader of the notorious group by Indian Police.
Indian Police Explains Nigerian Drug Chain
Delhi Police’s special cell told Naija Standard that it has busted an international drugs smuggling racket where the accused persons used to send drugs abroad in courier packets with the arrest of a bodybuilder from Delhi, a Nigerian national and their associate. The main accused Pannalal, who worked in Malaysia in 2002 to 2005 used to himself make high quality heroin and then supply it to Nigerian dealers in Delhi.
Naija Standard investigation revealed that the heroin was procured from UP’s Bareilly and some parts of Madhya Pradesh and then smuggled all over the world. Cops have recovered around 1.8 kg of fine quality heroin and 4.2 kg other narcotics substances including Alprazolam, Acitic Anhydride, Phenobarbital, Pseudoephedrine from accused persons. Officials say that recovered drugs worth several millions of dollars in the international market.
Nigerian led Drug Ring Team
Going by information given to Naija Standard, a team led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav arrested the main accused—Pannalal alias Vinod (32), a resident of Nirankari Colony in Delhi, Manvender Singh Shekhawat (28) and Nigerian national Henry Chiendu (39), their ring leader.
In the words of Yadav: “We had information about drug trafficking activities of this syndicate. We came to know last week that Manvender would hand over huge consignment of heroin to Pannalal at his house in Nirankari Colony.”
