HISTORY was made last week in Nigeria, especially in Lagos when the prestigious NMO Management Ltd., in conjunction with the famous Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry staged the biggest entertainment ceremony at the economic city of Africa’s largest black nation in the world in an atmosphere of fashion, music, arts and comedy.
The 10-hour event which had in attendance who’s who in the movie, comedy, art industries held at Radisson Blu, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Master of Ceremony and anchor of the high-powered octane event was a charismatic gentleman, Kolade Yode, whose sterling performance attracted a loud ovation.
On entrance into the hall, there was a ‘Pop up market’ of vendors right in the front, showcasing various brands, products and services available for Nigeria/Africa market to drive the economic environment.
It was indeed historic and monumental moment accomplishment when NMO Management Ltd., converged men and women from all walks of life to stage the first Symposium And Easter Festival Parade in Lagos in conjunction with Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, LCCI.
The ceremony had in attendance many top echelons in different fields of human endeavors, especially in the creative industry, ranging from fashion, movie, arts, music; comedy, including members of Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry and many other professionals from the corporate world.
The epoch-making and world-class rolled into one event was anchored in different sessions: the first and second sessions were symposium where professional men and women of class discussed issues that are affecting the Nigeria’s creative industry and how best they can project the industry to the global world positively.
Among the top speakers that participated in the first round of the historic symposium were: Dr. Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a veteran actress, Joke Silva, a movie goddess, ably represented was Mrs. Ebele Nwachukwu, Obukome Ibru, Ms. Shade Bembatoun-Young, Mrs. Maggi Chinyere Offaha, a United States-based author/ book publisher, Honourable Toki Mabogunje, past Chairman of Council/President Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the host, Dr. Ngozi Omambala, Group MD/CEO, NMO Management Limited, Chairperson, Creative & Entertainment Group at Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They all spoke on the drive to promote Nigeria creative works in the international community, claiming that is one of the key factors needed in the Nigeria economy.
One the top speakers, in her contributions said the Nigerian government can exploit so much in entertainment and creative industry if they channel more funds to support the genuine practitioners in the industry. Omotola in her contributions advice that women should not rely on their facial beauty alone, but should always think inward on what they can do to add value to the society.
The speakers discussed gender equality that women should be allowed to maximize their potential to the full length, arguing that whatever man can do, women can do better irrespective of the nature of the jobs or positions men may head. They further said women should be allowed to play more active roles in the Nigeria political space. The second round of the symposium also had in attendance key players in the Nigeria creative industry, ranging from fashion, arts movie music.
Other key speakers in the second round of the symposium were: Mr. Gabriel Idahosa FCA, President of LCCI, Obukome Ibru, Dr. Ngozi Omambala; Group MD/CEO, NMO Management Limited, Chairperson, Creative & Entertainment Group at Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Ovo Ogufere, Ejiro Amos Tafiri-International award winning designer, Oge Kimono-daughter of Ras Kimono and Debo Atiba.
The session was lead by Idahosa who advised that people in the creative industry should learn more about management skills to project their works and brand internationally. He said, many practitioners in the creative industry always find it difficult to project their brands because of the little knowledge they have about management skills. He sighted the example of an average fashioner who needs a brand manager that knows how best to sell his or her readymade clothes.
He concluded that the role of a good manager can not be over emphasized in a business. The most anticipated and memorable event ended with fashion shows and artiste performances. Among the artistes that dazzled the participants with their sonorous voices were: Oge Kimono, the daughter of Nigerian late reggae legendry, Ras Kimono and IDYL winner of ‘The Voice of Nigeria Season 2’ and other talented artistes.
The host, Dr. Ngozi Omambala, Group MD/CEO, NMO Management Limited, Chairperson, Creative & Entertainment Group at Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry was overwhelmed by the impressive turn-out of people at the event’s maiden edition. She was sighted smiling and exchanging pleasantries with people at every moment of the world class historic event.
In an interview conducted for the dynamic woman of excellence at the event with Najia Standard Newspaper ABUJA Editor, she said she was very happy by the way people came from the different areas of human endeavors to grace the maiden edition, adding that she was rest assured that next year’s edition will be more laudable and glamorous. She thanked all the participants and the panelists for taking their time to honour her at the event and wished them safe journey back to their various homes.
