HAVING GONE THROUGH 14 DAYS OF HELL IN THE HANDS OF NIGERIA MILITARY, CHAINED HANDS AND FEET IN A DARK UNDERGROUND CELL, due to a trumped-up petition written by Nigeria’s Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila for exposing the rot, corruption scheme within the administration which led to the alleged looting of N30billion in the nation’s funds, SEGUN OLATUNJI, the General Editor of FirstNEWS publication tendered his letter of resignation as daily threats to his life, wife and kids remain unabated and unbearable.
In his letter of resignation addressed to the Publisher/Managing Director, First Media Network Limited, today, May 8, 2024, a copy made available to our correspondent, this investigative journalist, a former PUNCH Newspaper Bureau Chief stated that “In view of the latest development regarding the Gbajabiamila story and the stance of the company’s Management, I hereby tender my resignation as the General Editor of First News.
“It has become imperative for me to resign my appointment for the safety of my person and my family.”
Explaining further, he absolved himself from any wrongdoing, maintain his integrity by saying: “I want to state that in no distant time, the truth will come out and then it’ll be my word against theirs.
“I hope the Management of First Media Network Limited, publishers of First News newspaper, will be magnanimous enough to fully settle the one year outstanding salaries I am being owed, in no time.
“I thank the company’s management for giving me the opportunity to contribute my quota to its operations in the past four years.”
