Q: How will you define Human Trafficking?
A: Human trafficking is modern day slave. It is the exploitation of people for their body, body parts or labor. The U.S. Department of State has a standard definition according to the Trafficking in Person’s Protection Act (TVPA), which you can find on their website http://www.state.gov/j/tip/laws/
Q: Are there other ways full details of your ordeal as a victim of Human Trafficking can be read so others can learn some lessons?
A:To learn more about my story, I will encourage the public to get a copy of my book,Imprisoned: The Travails of a Trafficked Victim. It has a detailed account of my ordeal as a victim of human trafficking. I was not trafficked as a child and therefore do not have fear as a result of trafficking from my childhood.
Q: How has the American and Mexican Government been fighting Human Trafficking and stopping Human Traffickers?
A: The United States (U.S.) and Mexico governments are constantly working on ways to combat human trafficking in both countries. Human trafficking is not a challenge for one country or developing nations only, but every country around the world. And, it takes efforts from every citizen of every country around the world to fight human trafficking. Everyone from children to adult need to be informed and engaged in human trafficking awareness because education is key to prevention.
Q: Can you tell us how you have been using the platform of your Television Talk Show digitally to educate the people on this issue?
A:I produce and host a TV Show,Imprisoned Show where children under the age of 18 are encouraged to stand against human trafficking with the flag of their country by drawing the flag of that country and sensing it to be aired on the show.
Q: We would appreciate that you tell us about the famous ‘The Enitan Story’
A:I also founded The Enitan Story, a nonprofit organization with a mission to advocate for victims and empower survivors of human trafficking and domestic abuse. The organization has also launched a campaign geared towards the youth through Students Against Abuse and Slavery International (SAASI). The goal is to encourage youths through college students to engage in human trafficking awareness campaign in other to prevent the crime. The more people know about the crime, the more many will get rescued and many will be prevented from becoming victims.
Q: How do you intend to use your appointment by President Barack Obama administration to liberate the minds of the people and educate them on dangers inherent in Human Trafficking?
A:My appointment on the U.S. Advisory Council is indeed an opportunity to lend my voice on the highest platform to reach more people and also engage more people in the fight against human trafficking in the U.S. and around the world.
