They both won for their music consistency, celebration of Africa’s virtues, Deeply-inspiring Africa’s messages of hope, resilience, victory and for being few of Africa’s biggest music export Overseas.”
Best African Music Icon
In a fiercely contested votes for Africa’s Best Music Icon, Nigeria’s born 2Face Idibia, Chris Mbah, Ghana’s Kwaw Kese, Reggie Rockstone and Sarkodie come tops in the finalists, while other parameters are still being presently used to determine whom the cap truly fits amongst them as ‘Best African Music Icon’. Sandra explained that entries were collated from over 20 countries in Africa, where these musicians shone like stars in the firmament. Watch out for the winner of this category to be unveiled by Thursday, August 18, 2016 to the world.
FELA Kuti, Lucky Dube Win ‘Most Famous Post Humous Hero of Millennium’
FELA Anikulapo Kuti, Nigeria’s unarguably freedom fighter, Afrobeat maestro for his daring music exposing all ills in Nigeria, Africa at the risk of his own lives won ‘Most Famous Post Humous Afrobeat Hero of Millennium’.
For his tirelessly contribution to Reggae music, his soul-inspirational and evergreen messages of giving hope to the hopeless, and bringing peace to the world, the Award Committee unanimously handed out to Lucky Dube ‘Most Famous Post Humous Reggae Hero of Millennium.’
African Comedian of the Year Award
Nigeria’s AY, I Go Die, Basketmouth, South Africa’s Trevor Noah, Loyiso Gola, Tumi Morake, Riaad Moosa emerged finalists in ‘African Comedian of the Year’ Award. The Committee is dispassionately looking closely at each of the finalists’ best comedy repertoire to make a categorically statement on the winner.
