OBVIOUSLY referring to the latest revelation by Nigeria’s Anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that Rickey Tarfa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Principal Counsel/Head of the firm with decades of experience in law profession as an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) allegedly ‘bribed’ Justice Mohammed Yinusa of the same court where his prosecution on corrupt-related charge is still on-going with the sum of N225,000 cash; an ex-president of the nation, Olusegun Obasanjo, has dubbed members of Nigerian judiciary ‘thieves.’
Obasanjo known in global circle never to play to the gallery expressed his total disappointment in the manner Nigerian judiciary is practicing ‘Cash & Carry Legal System’ where corruption fester, which eventually result in a situation that ‘the innocent becomes guilty’ and the ‘guilty becomes the innocent.’
OBJ as fondly called by his admirers made this latest revelation in his Twitter handle @SegunObasanjo on February 19 as he tweeted (unedited): “The recent misconduct & malpractices within the Judiciary spells doom for Nigeria. What do we do when the guards become the thieves?”
This elder statesman had a day earlier rebuked Nigeria’s Elegant Stallion, Onyeka Onwenu, a musician, who was Director General, National Center for Women Development, Abuja over her tantrums that President Muhammadu Buhari recently sacked her because she is from the Igbo ethnic extraction. Obasanjo told her to keep her mouth shut and stop playing the Igbo ethnic card since Nigerians now knows her true colour.
In the words of Obasanjo (unedited): “I am very delighted that Nigerians did not allow Onyeka Onwenu to confuse them using the tribal card. We are finally getting it right”.
