SIMPLY: It is a case of inhuman treatment, abuse, brutality and alleged stealing. Or how will you describe a situation where a husband and wife (both Nigerians)-Adiguns from Yoruba speaking part of the country were locked out of their homes at Blanchard town, Dublin simply for owing 30days house rent. Worrisome was the position taken by Irish police, who obviously supported the landlord, openly assaulted the wife and pinned Mr. Adigun to the door.
Adigun never owed in the past-INVESTIGATION
Investigation by Naija Standard showed that in the past these couple never defaulted in their payment to their landlord, but wondered why this same landlord had to report the man to the Irish police allegedly claiming the Nigerian man was threatening his life, whereas it was all lies and after-thought just to ‘nail’ the Nigerian, whose Nigerian wife is described to be ‘very beautiful.’
There are allegations among Nigerian community in Dublin that the landlord hostile attitude is not unconnected with his alleged ‘overtures and lust over the Nigerian woman’ which the latter turned down on countless occasion; since she has to remain faithful to her husband.
Racial Attack
To many African communities in Ireland, Naija Standard learnt such unbecoming behavior is not limited to the fact that same landlord had allegedly sold most of the properties of these Nigerian couple. And the landlord only got angry when he realized that if this couple should open their house, they would realize that their properties had been looted.
As at the time of going to the press, these traumatized couples are taking refuge in one of the homes of fellow Nigerians in Dublin.
