FACTS have emerged that late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar, a former Governor of Plateau State and erstwhile national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s biggest, foremost ruling party in Africa’s largest and most populous black nation on earth died ‘ a poor man,’ without fulfilling his aspiration and destiny in life.
How Lar Died a Pauper
Investigation by Naija Standard showed that all through the lifetime of this great political leader from Plateau State, he had no single personal house, landed properties or block of flats of his own as he lived his entire life in ‘rented flats in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja and Plateau State. Even in his bank accounts, he allegedly had paltry savings that could hardly build a bungalow.
His Regrets, Unfulfilled Dreams
Further investigation by Naija Standard confirmed how Lar had desired very strongly amongst his many dreams to see a ‘united PDP without division’, where the party rules over the affairs of Nigeria and the electorates are positively impacted with all the manifestoes of PDP. This aspiration of Lar eventually becomes ‘a dream’ after-all, as recent events in the party have showed how crises of undimensional variables have torn the party into shreds.’
“Solomon Lar, We’ve lost a Rare Gem” – New PDP
In a press statement sent to Editors of Naija Standard in United States by the breakaway faction of PDP, the Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has learnt with shock of the death of Lar, the First Civilian Governor of Plateau State and First National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Baraje led-PDP expressed shock over the exit of Lar in a statement by Eze Chukwuemeka described the statesman as “a colorful politician of substance, a first-class patriot and an accomplished administrator”.
The statement noted that as a former pioneer Chairman of the PDP, Lar played a significant role in laying a solid foundation on which his successors built to make the party the poster boy of Nigerian politics and in sustaining and growing democracy.
In the words of Eze, “Lar’s death, coming on the heels of that of another of our former leaders, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, has robbed both our great party and the country at large of a rare voice of wisdom. We pray that God Almighty will accept his soul in eternity and grant us Nigerians the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, Baraje led-PDP prayed. We hereby send our condolences to the Lar family, to the Plateau State Government, to President Goodluck Jonathan and to all Nigerians. A great man has departed! Adieu, Chief Solomon Daushep Lar”.
