THE end seems to have come for Triple H, Chief Operating Officer, COO, World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE and Stephanie McMahon, the owner and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, WWE, as the final humiliation, defeat of Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista followed in sequence; as they are now the laughing stock of the Western media, while the chant of ‘Yes, Yes, Yes’ has been crowned as the peoples’ choice. No more hiding place for the Authority, consisting of Triple H and wife, Stephanie.
Far away in Ohio, Cleveland, If the WWE views WrestleMania as its season finale of sorts, than Sunday night’s WrestleMania 30 was a fulfilling end, full of several predictable moments and one massive shocker.
The night began with host Hulk Hogan fumbling over his words – nearly calling the WWE Network the WWF Network and asking the people in the “Silverdome” how excited they were. It wasn’t until the crowd began chanting “Superdome! Superdome!” that Hogan realized he was in New Orleans and not Michigan.
That’s when sound of shattering glass filled the stadium and Stone Cold Steve Austin strutted out in all his “Texas Rattlesnake” glory. Austin was far more coherent than Hogan, playfully mocking the immortal one for his “Silverdome” blunder and asking the crowd if they wanted Austin to hit Hogan with a Stone Cold Stunner (“Hell yeah!”).
The two’s mutual respect for each other made for a great WrestleMania moment, which became even more iconic when The Rock shockingly made his way to the ring. At that point, you had the three biggest stars in the history of the WWE standing together on its biggest stage. Just 10 minutes into WrestleMania 30 and you had your money’s worth.
The wrestling portion of the night began with the best match. Daniel Bryan faced Triple H, with the winner moving on to compete in the main event for the heavyweight title.
The match lasted nearly 30 minutes, with Bryan and Triple H going back and forth, showing off their respective skills. The crowd was in full “Yes!” mode, while Triple H proved his worth as one of the greatest in-ring villains of all time. Triple H’s wife, Stephanie McMahon, added a nice, treacherous touch, berating Bryan from outside the ring.
Emotions were high, but there was only one way the match could have ended. Bryan had to move on to the main event or the 75,000-plus fans in the Superdome would have rioted. Thus, Bryan got the win.
The length of Bryan and Triple H’s match probably played a major part in the forgettable match between The Shield and The New Age Outlaws (with Kane) lasting less than three minutes. Then came the inaugural “Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal,” which was better than anyone expected, highlighted by Cesaro picking up the Big Show (seriously!) and throwing him over the top rope.
It is so shameful that the ‘Authority’ don’t recognize the power of the people…..
