FROM the outset of the bright sunny sky on Monday, December 22nd, 2025, at the premises of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State, with the flamboyant lifestyles in the way invited guests were dressed, it was certain a huge ceremony was in the offing. Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Margaret Agebe Ochalla played a great host to all, as Nigeria’s highlife ‘Oruka’ music crooner, Sunny Nneji and Zaaki Azzay, a songster had great performances. It was the night of Xmas and Thanksgiving. Also in attendance were Assistant Controller-General of Corrections, Zone A and other celebrities.

Even after the party delved into the late hours of the night around 10:45pm, many of the invitees were still on the dance floor, shaking their bodies, wriggling their waist to the rhythm of old school songs non-stop. Excitement was in the air.
Decked in a white designer’s long sleeve, in gold buttons, maroon, pink pens and a red hat to match, AIG Ochalla played a great host, personally greeting everyone present, ensuring all invitees were comfortable all through the ceremony.
The event officially started at 3:00pm with the rendition of the national anthem. Processional Hymns titled “To God Be the Glory” was rendered by the Saint Catholic Church choir, with reading of the Holy Bible from the books of Genesis 3 vs. 8, 17 vs. 19, 22 vs. 15-18, with Carol songs rendered.
AIG Ochalla was introduced by the PRO to loud applause and standing ovation by all present.
In her goodwill message to Nigerians, this soft-spoken, cerebral AIG appreciated the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, Chief Superintendents of Police, Senior Officers and Junior Officers.

Her words: “Throughout the year, you have demonstrated courage in the face of danger, patience under pressure, and loyalty to the ideals and tenets of the Nigeria Police Force. You have worked long hours, often under difficult conditions, to ensure that criminals are intelligently identified, investigated and removed from our streets without fear, fatigue, or compromise.
“Your dedication has not only strengthened public confidence in this apex investigative department of the Nigeria Police, but has also reinforced the core values, accountability, and the rule of law.”
She ended her speech by focusing on ‘Rule of Law, Resilience and Sacrifice.’
The Master of Ceremony ensured there were enough rib-cracking jokes, when lite refreshment was then served.
Highpoint of the historic event was when AIG Ochalla took to the dancing floor, joined by others, as Vote of Thanks was ushered in by CP Simeon Akpan Udoh (Anti-Fraud) and Benediction given by CP Haruna Alaba (GI).
