According to a press statement issued by Sandra Reilly, Chairman, Board of Award Committee, North America, she explained that this year award ceremony is very remarkable, significant and represents the making of African victory, “This year’s ceremony is very timely in African history. After carefully viewing all entries we received over 90 days ago, in a a fiercely contested votes for Africa’s Best Music Icon, Nigeria’s born 2Face Idibia defeats Chris Mbah, Ghana’s Kwaw Kese, Reggie Rockstone and Sarkodie who were all finalists to emerge ‘Best African Music Icon in Diaspora. 2Face Idibia won this award by the consistency of his music, lyrical contents, African medley, creativity in message delivery and overall acceptance by Africans in Diaspora who cast their votes overwhelmingly in support of Idibia. Shortly by August 18, 2016, Idibia will be unveiled to the world.”
Sandra explained that entries were collated from over 20 countries in Africa, where the finalists’ musicians shone like stars in the firmament and Idibia emerges the winner.
African Comedian of the Year Award
In another tightly contested entry for African Comedian of the Year in Diaspora, Nigeria’s AY rubbishes I Go Die, Basketmouth, South Africa’s Trevor Noah, Loyiso Gola, Tumi Morake, Riaad Moosa who were finalists and won ‘African Comedian of the Year in Diaspora’ award. The Committee dispassionately looked closely at each of the finalists’ best comedy repertoire, ensured a categorically statement on the winner.
