IN the global law enforcement community on the soil of the United States, from the ‘Lone Star’ State of Texas, a Nigerian police officer, newly promoted Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, mni, psc, has boldly written the name of Nigeria in gold ink and rebrand the image of Africa’s most populous black nation in the world positively in the eyes of the international community after he became the first Nigerian to win the historic, golden North America Nigeria’s Crime Fighter Hall of Fame Award 2025 recently.

It would be recalled that the due to the importance of the American Golden Security Award presentation which held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters, Lagos State, the Board of Directors of Naija Standard Newspaper Inc USA, a duly certified publication by the Government of the State of Texas with Verifiable Certification Number 461596061, also registered by Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja, verified with CAC Number:997942 flew down from Dallas Fort Worth, DFW, Texas to Nigeria on a 22 hours 50 minutes flight to witness the unique event.

And all our editorial branches in Denmark, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, the Republic of South Africa, Swaziland and Liberia, deemed it absolutely fitting and historically necessary to place on global record the monumental contributions of this soft-spoken, God-fearing outstanding Law and Order police officer who has contributed immensely and brought positive attention to the brilliance and successes of great policing in Nigeria.
This landmark, career-crowning honour was formally presented to the highly decorated police chief at a solemn and well-attended ceremony on an occasion that drew wide attention from within the security community and beyond, underscoring the deep reverence in which this exceptional officer is held by his peers, subordinates and the international press establishment.
Without a doubt, this former 32nd AIG, in charge Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters received overwhelming endorsement from millions of Nigerians in the Diaspora due to his profound knowledge in Technology-driven crime busting, pro-active Operational Security Safety and pragmatic Law and Order approach.

The highpoint of the ceremony was when DIG Fayoade received the North America Nigeria’s Golden Crime Fighter Hall of Fame Award 2025.
In his response, this highly decorated security officer explained in his own words: “I have received many awards in my policing career, but this honour from the United States is special to me, as it rewards all the hardwork, dedication in my law enforcement journey. Certainly, this is an obvious, double celebration and a milestone in Nigeria policing.
It would be recalled that earlier the Police Service Commission, PSC, approved the promotion of former Assistant Inspector General, AIG, Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade to the rank of DIG.
The decision was reached on Friday, February 20, 2026, following Fayoade’s performance in the Commission’s written examination and oral interview.
In a statement issued, the Commission’s spokesman, Torty Kalu, said the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), charged the new DIG to see his promotion as a call to higher responsibility.
He expressed confidence that Mustapha’s experience in technology-driven policing and stakeholder engagement would contribute to improved national security.
“The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of AIG Fayoade Mustapha to the rank of DIG.
“The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd.), charged the new DIG to view his promotion as a call to greater responsibility.
