HONESTY AND INTEGRITY are main virtues of a responsible and great-minded individual. The non-stop media revelation centered around Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of Central Bank, CBN, facing various litigation and court proceedings in Nigeria traceable to various alleged fraudulent activities while in office had been misread by a section of the press to ‘include other innocent people unrelated to the suspect, rather their names were erroneously mentioned in various reports for sharing same last name’ in far away Queen’s enclave, the United Kingdom.
By this publication, The Emefieles in Britain are using this medium to inform the British Government that they have no deal or never had a contact with the ex-Nigeria’s apex bank man’ in question.
Setting the record straight for the purpose of lawful reasons and posterity, The Emefieles in Britain, a hardworking, entrepreneurial, knit-close, and loving industrious family have come out to disown the earlier media reports and distance themselves from the ex-CBN Governor claiming their lives, livelihood, businesses and relationship with other members of Nigerian community had been ruined by the press.
In The Emefiele’s rejoinder from the United Kingdom whose names are listed as: Chukwuma Karlson Emefiele, Obiaokor Emefiele, Christopher Emefiele; Angela Isioma Emefiele-Bottomley, Ndidi Emefiele-Ezumba, it reads:
“I am writing to express our deep concern and disappointment regarding the blog post you published about me and my siblings (The Emefiele’s family) living in the United Kingdom, Great Britain. The content contains several unverified claims that have significantly tarnished our reputations and defamed our characters.
“Throughout history, unconfirmed allegations and defamatory remarks have had devastating impacts on individuals and families. These unfounded claims often lead to widespread misunderstandings, loss of trust, and irreparable harm to personal and professional lives. For my family, the situation is no different.
“Since the publication of your post, we have experienced an overwhelming amount of distress and anxiety. Our relationships with friends, colleagues, and even extended family members have been strained. The emotional toll has been immense, with each of us grappling with feelings of humiliation and frustration. Professionally, these unsubstantiated claims have threatened our careers, jeopardizing the years of hard work and dedication we have put into building our lives.”
Same name of Emefiele:
The Emefieles family spokesperson writes: “Firstly, I want to emphasize that the only similarity we share with the individuals in question is our surname. We have never met them in person, nor have we had any contact with them. Despite this clear distinction, your post has caused considerable distress to our family.
“Unverified claims and misinformation can spread rapidly, creating a ripple effect that reaches into our personal and professional lives. These allegations have already led to misunderstandings and unwarranted scrutiny from our community and peers. Such experiences are not just emotionally taxing but also have tangible repercussions, affecting our relationships and reputations.
“Our family values our privacy and integrity. We believe in the power of truth and the responsibility that comes with sharing information. Thank you for your attention to this matter. We trust that you will act responsibly to rectify the situation.”
