FOR Nigeria’s ruling political party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) it is celebration galore at Wadata House in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja as a judgment proclaimed by Honorable Justice Oniyangi in Nigeria’s High Court recently has cleared any ambiguity on the eligibility of incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan to contest in the 2015 General Elections in spite of the fuss generated by it as propagated by the opposition parties in the country.
PDP Celebrate Landslide Judgment, Strategizes
In a historic ruling in court 4, High Court of FCT in suit FCT/HC/CV/2749/2012 between Cyracus Njoku Vs. Jonathan, PDP & INEC, Honorable Justice Oniyangi held that “Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is in his first term which commenced on 29th May 2011 and he is thus free to seek a second term in office at the 2015 General Election under the platform of the PDP or any other political party.”
Naija Standard gathered that the ruling party has been strategizing ever since the masterstroke judgment came in their favor, since the tides of victory seems turned against the opposition in favor of the PDP at the moment. And Nigeria may eventually witness ‘a sound victory’ of the Jonathan’s presidency in the 2015 election. Sources told Naija Standard that PDP is not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring the emergence of Mr. President- a humble leader whose ‘performance and name’ has brought him ‘Goodluck.’
Opposition Parties Panic, Summon Emergency Meeting
Investigation by Naija Standard confirmed that the court ruling allegedly ‘rattled’ opposition parties as panic and apprehension of their candidates’ impact in the 2015 General Election may not transform to victory at the polls. In view of this, the opposition parties in Nigeria have summoned an emergency meeting to appraise this latest judicial trend.
Kanu, CNN Award Winner Becomes Chief Operating Officer PDP Magazine
Consequent upon the decision of the PDP to ensure victory in the 2015 General Election, the National Working Committee (NWC) is repositioning the party by unfolding a number of programmes to enable the party maintain its hold in the nation’s polity in spite of barrage of attacks by the opposition.
One of such strategic moves is the appointment of Ahaoma Kanu, an intelligent journalist who doubles as CNN African Journalist of the Year to edit the official magazine of the Umbrella party and re-package its website by ensuring effective publicity blitz for the programmes of the PDP government in power.
In a reported statement by Olisa Metuh, PDP National Publicity Secretary he said “The PDP website will have a contemporary outlook and multimedia components making it a useful tool for the younger generation of Nigerians to get more actively involved in the activities of the ruling party.”
