Father beheads 5 yr old son for ‘Fake’ $6,000 Money Ritual…Says “Magician friend deceived me”

WHAT in this world would have made a father lures his own biological son, even adopted into the bush, tied his hands and slashed his throat by beheading his own ‘flesh and blood’? This is the question on the lips of inhabitants in Ganji Village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The people were terrified when they learnt that desperate moves by Bappah Alti, a 24 year old farmer and father of Buba engaged in the art of money ritual by ‘wasting away the life of his only son.’
Shamefully, he blames a magician friend of his, Sange Hassan, a magician who assured him that he would be N1M ($6,000) richer and quit his poverty status. Before Alti could realize the evil he had done, he used the life of his only child, an innocent and ever-ready boy on errand’s life to pay ‘blood-money’ ransom.
Alti’s grandfather challenged the suspect on the whereabouts of his son since they both left for the farm and only Alti returned home. Sensing incoherent expression from Alti, whom has brought a lot of trouble to their family in recent past, with blood-stains on his cloth, the old man raised the alarm which attracted vast majority of the villagers.
Talking like someone under a spell, Alti said “It was my magician friend that the Devil used to deceive me. He promised to make me rich. He assured me I will make $6,000 (about N1M) from magic that would make the head of my son to spill-out money. I later discovered that he lied to me. But I have already cut-off my only son’s head, removed his heart and intestines.”
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Mohammed Ibrahim disclosed that the suspect was arrested alongside his alleged partner, Sange Hassan, after the police were tipped about the crime.
According to the police, Bappah left his palace in the morning for his farm with his son, but in the evening, returned home without him which immediately made his father suspect something was seriously wrong.
Bappah, however, told his father he left the farm without his son after he forgot they went to the farm together.
A search team was quickly assembled and they went to the farm where they discovered to their dismay that the village chief had killed his own son. They found the body of the boy without his head. The matter was quickly reported to the police and Bappah and his partner in crime were promptly arrested.
Bappah initially refused he knew anything about his son’s death but later confessed he used a stick and a matchet to kill him, adding he did so as part of a deal he struck with one Alhaji Sange Hassan, a magician who promised him the sum of US$6,000 in return for the head of his son. He then added the barbaric act was the work of the devil, crying as he said this and asked God for forgiveness.
He told the police that he wanted to use the money to buy and rear cattle which would help him to take adequate care of his family, especially his aging parents. He insisted he was lured into the act by Alhaji Sange, who kept pleading with him to bring his son’s skull to him for the said sum.
On interrogation, his alleged accomplice denied he ever asked the chief to kill his son, saying he was being framed for no reason. He even denied he was a magician.
