HE’S A FAMILIAR FACE IN GERMANY. HE IS BEING CELEBRATED as one of Nigeria’s Reggae, Highlife, Cultural Ambassadors. He is known on the music stage as Ambassador Shaba Mien Mien, a custodian of Ishan culture. Having stayed in Germany for over 10 years, this graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo States, a happily married man to a German woman discusses his planned music schedule in Scotland, why he uses Ishan language to embellish his songs and how African music is thriving fast in Europe:

*NAIJA STANDARD NEWSPAPER: Why do you take pleasures in singing in Ishan language of the Esan people in Esanland, Edo State, Nigeria even while you are resident in Germany?
*SHABA: As an artist, I’m passionate about singing in my native language because it’s unique and allows me to promote my culture and heritage.
*NAIJA STANDARD NEWSPAPER: How do the Germans react and adapt to some of your music 🎵 been rendered in Nigerian language, in spite of the fact they don’t understand Ishan?
*SHABA: My music has resonated with German audiences, who appreciate its rhythm and energy. I often incorporate English into my songs, making them more accessible to a broader audience.
*NAIJA STANDARD NEWSPAPER: How do you get inspiration to write songs and record hit singles in Germany?
*SHABA: My inspiration comes from God and my surroundings.
*NAIJA STANDARD NEWSPAPER: As a foreigner in Germany, how were you able to adapt yourself and break into their music genre with African music?
*SHABA: I’ve studied my language and culture, which informs my music. I’m committed to consistently releasing new content.

*SHABA: My spiritual name, Shaba Mien Mien, reflects my connection to God.

*SHABA: I’m proud to be part of the global music scene, where African music is thriving in Europe and beyond.
