THE idiom: “what goes around comes around” means that your actions, whether good or bad, will eventually return to affect you. Actions have Consequences: How you treat others eventually dictates how others treat you. If you treat people with kindness and generosity, you are likely to receive kindness in return. If you mistreat, lie to, or harm others, those same negative outcomes or retributions will eventually catch up to you. This phrase is closely tied to the concept of karma, similar to sayings like “you reap what you sow”. Barack Obama, former President of the United States, has faulted the alleged lopsided and biased immigration crackdown of opposition political figures in the country, saying when the tide turns after Democrats eventually take over the reins of power, “the hunter now will become the hunted by then”, and no one in the Trump family orbit or cabinet will left off the hook of painstaking investigations bothering on immigration.

Obama published a sharp statement on X (formerly Twitter) condemning the Trump administration’s immigration investigation and home raid targeting U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
Characterization of the Probe: Obama called the federal actions “appalling,” stating that the full weight of the government is being used to intimidate a law-abiding official simply because she criticizes the president.
Defense of Omar’s Citizenship: He noted that Omar arrived in the U.S. from Somalia at age 12 and automatically became a naturalized citizen at 17 when her father was naturalized. He dismissed the administration’s inquiry as an “unsubstantiated theory” claiming she was 18 at the time.
Warning on Precedents: Obama warned that targeting an elected official in this manner sets a dangerous precedent that could eventually extend to political opponents in either party.
The Raid: Federal agents conducted a pre-dawn search of Omar’s Washington, D.C., home, seizing her phone, passport, and documents as part of an investigation into decades-old immigration paperwork.
Broader Pattern: Obama compared the investigation of Omar to past federal scrutiny directed at other Trump critics, such as New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey.
Administration Stance: President Donald Trump and White House officials denied direct personal involvement, stating the matter is managed by the Department of Justice and Homeland Security Investigations.

Omar’s Response: Omar strongly denied any wrongdoing, calling the raid a “campaign of political intimidation” and an abuse of power intended to weaponize law enforcement against political enemies ahead of elections.
Meanwhile, Border czar Tom Homan said Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., could be denaturalized and deported if investigators found out that she committed immigration fraud, repeating his assertion that no one is above the law after her home was raided and cellphone seized.
“Of course, if you lie during the naturalization process, there is a process to denaturalize somebody. We’ve done it before… And certainly, if the evidence points that way, that could happen,” Homan told “The Big Weekend Show” on Saturday.

Omar will “be held to the same standards you and I are held [to]. If she violated the law, then she’ll be held accountable,” he added, declining to discuss the specifics of the investigation into the congresswoman.
“I said over a year ago, the allegations were made clear, and it would be investigated, and they are investigating it,” he said. “I’m not going to get ahead of the bureau or HSI, but I’ve been told they have a strong case, and we’ll let the evidence lead where it leads.”
Omar is under federal investigation over allegations that she or her father lied about her birth year on immigration paperwork to obtain her citizenship when her family fled Somalia in the late 1990s.
Her father became a U.S. citizen in 2000. Omar was believed to be 17 at the time, and, as a minor, automatically qualified for citizenship under U.S. law along with him. But recently, it’s been alleged she was actually 18 and would have needed to go through the process herself at that point.

Omar and other Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., have denounced the probe as political persecution of one of President Donald Trump’s detractors’ weeks before a critical election.
Federal agents raided Omar’s Washington, D.C., home earlier this week and took her cellphone and other possessions.
Asked whether the federal government has reason to investigate any type of wrongdoing beyond immigration fraud, Homan said he wouldn’t go there.
“That’s a question for the FBI. I know things, but that’s the question for FBI,” he said.
Aides close to Obama said the former president tells close friends that “the present White House, State Department going after a lawfully elected member of House of Representatives, Ilhan Omar is undemocratic and bad optics”.

However, intelligence sources told Naija Standard Newspaper Inc USA Media Group that the First Lady, Melania Trump could face a most embarrassing, hellish moment where she would be summoned to appear in the Congress, face the American public in full glare on the secrecy and controversy surrounding her Green Card, Naturalization possession if Democrats win both the House and Senate by midterm November 3rd election, since records show she was born in Novo Mesto, Yugoslavia (now Slovenia), first entered the United States on August 27, 1996, on a B-1/B-2 visitor visa.
Naija Standard Newspaper Inc USA Media Group reached out to Omar’s office for comment but did not immediately hear back.
