OBVIOUSLY enraged by the spiraling effect of inflation and hardship further made worse by scarcity of premium motor spirit (PMS), otherwise known as ‘Petrol’ since there is absolute no constant electricity supply in Nigeria, the embattled administration of Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari has been taken to the cleaners and described ‘Incompetent to solve the perennial fuel shortages nation-wide.’
Making this position public without any pretense are angry Hausa youths under the aegis of Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), a coalition of Northern Youths that have demanded the immediate resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari as petroleum minister to end persistent fuel crisis in the country.
According to a press statement signed by President of NYCN, Isah Abubakar in Kaduna on Monday, the group dares Buhari to resign as Petroleum Minister and appoint a substantive Minister of Petroleum resources for effective service delivery.
Obviously angry, Abubakar’s statement reads: “President Buhari should appoint a Group Managing Director for Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation and relieve the minister of state for petroleum resources of double appointments.
“We realize that since Mr. President’s pronouncement of himself as Substantive Minister of Petroleum, the situation and availability of petroleum products especially that of premium motor spirit (PMS) in the market has become very scarce, indicating total failure on the part of Mr President as the Minister of petroleum resource and Ibe Kachikwu as Minister of State and GMD of NNPC.
“We demand that Mr. President hire a competent hand to handle the ministry and appoint a new GMD for NNPC as this will enable effectiveness and productivity in the ministry and agency.
“We understand that your administration has good intention for the masses and the country but the scarcity of petroleum products in the market have inflate more pains on us as a people. The cost of transportation, food items and other essential household commodities had drastically increase.”
Massive Protest Nationwide on the way
Abubakar threatened massive protest if the situation persist more than reasonable time.
His words: “We wish to emphatically state that if this condition persist, Nigeria Youth will not hesitate to mobilize ourselves across the country for massive protest, this we believed will shutdown the economy of the country as we are already in consultation with other civil society organization to map out effective National protest.”

From Abuja to Lagos, Rivers to Bayelsa, Ogun to Oyo, and all over Nigeria, the situation is the same. Investigation by our correspondent have shown that most private companies, offices and shops all closed since the plague of fuel scarcity is presently biting hard in Nigeria. It is a fact that ‘light is life’, and all business activities in Nigeria is powered by electricity. Unfortunately, majority of businesses in Nigeria are currently grounded with no light available, even as Kachickwu confessed that Nigerians should not expect fuel shortage to end soon.
All of these crises have aggravated the lives of Nigerians and brought about untold hardship and severe economic obstacles for Nigeria. Nigerians across various age groups are now faulting Buhari, seeing as ‘Change Mantra Face’ whose administration’s performance rating has dropped globally in the eyes of International community.
