He is a man whose time has come. A highly cerebral public office holder respected in the Nigerian polity and outside the shores of the continent of Africa as a politician and businessman who walks his talk, having a tested integrity built on honesty and hard work. No wonder, most natives of Sokoto State are now clamoring, campaigning and demanding the true leadership of this great-grandson of Sultan Aliyu Karami ibn Muhammad Bello bn shekh Usman bn Fodio, a direct member of the ruling dynasty of the Sokoto Caliphate, YUSUF SULEIMAN whose royal title is ‘Dan Amar Sokoto’ to becoming the incoming Governor of Sokoto State in the 2027 election.
Despite his accolades of education in Nigeria, the United States and the United Kingdom, this humble, soft-spoken business genius focuses his eyes on liberating the masses of Sokoto State from poverty, open up health care clinics in all the 23 communities, create a huge employment hub for them, ensure their youths and women are empowered in a highly secured environment without an iota of fear on their farmlands.
This 63-year-old politician made his intention fully known recently under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as the former Minister of Transport in Nigeria, formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Governor of Sokoto State.
In his declaration, Hon. Suleiman expressed a strong commitment to delivering purposeful leadership, promoting inclusive development, and addressing the pressing challenges facing Sokoto State.
He emphasized his vision to improve key sectors such as Security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
“I am stepping forward with a clear sense of responsibility and a deep desire to serve the good people of Sokoto State. Together, we can build a more prosperous, secure, and united Sokoto,” he stated.
Hon. Suleiman called on all citizens, party members, and stakeholders across the state to rally behind his candidacy and support the ADC in its mission to provide credible leadership and sustainable progress.
He reaffirmed his dedication to transparency, accountability, and people-oriented governance if elected.
Leading a vigorous campaign to ensure good governance for the good people of Sokoto State in the United States, Aliu Ahmed, President, Sokoto Natives in the Diaspora, a proficient lecturer at the University of Texas, a Nigerian American born in Bodinga local government area explained to our correspondent the masses of the people in the state, and members of the international community believe in the steady hands, business direction and political emergence of Suleiman as the next Governor of Sokoto State which will further attracts Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the people:

Suleiman holds a BSc degree in business administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1986) and MBA (1989) from the same university. He attended the Harvard university Flagship course on privatization, the public Enterprises management program in 1995. He was also at the Kellog School of Management’s Executive Development program in (2002), Harvard University Kennedy School’s senior managers in Government Program (2001), University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business program on managing critical resources (2002), Cambridge Academy of Transport Shipping Insurance Course (2002), Kellogg Graduate school of Management Certificate in the soul of Leadership Program (2003).
