THERE is a pall of sadness in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) presently as William Moody, otherwise known as ‘Paul Bearer who joined the WWF in 1990 passed on in pains after he had struggled with death for 72 hours over Obesity and Gallbladder issues which resulted in blood clot. He had degree in mortuary science, which was used as inspiration for his character as a funeral director who managed The Undertaker, Kane, Rick Rude, Vader and more wrestling stars.
Cause of his Death
Naija Standard investigation confirmed that Bearer’s demise was as a result of chronic morbid obesity and gallbladder issues. It was further reported that Bearer suffered a blood clot three days before his death. While attending a Cauliflower Alley Club reunion on March 2, Bearer reportedly told people he was seeking treatment for “respiratory issues.” The president of the wrestling society, Bob Kelly reportedly said “Bearer had a severely breathing problem and was hospitalized after the reunion.”
Died at the age of 58 years
Moody – better known in sports entertainment circles as Paul Bearer, but also as Percy Pringle – following his death yesterday at the age of 58. WWE executive and thirteen-time World champion HHH lead the company’s marks of respects, tweeting that the former manager of the Undertaker “will never be forgotten. There will never be another.”
Commentator Jerry Lawler Eulogize Bearer
So pained, commentator Jerry Lawler posted a picture of a gaunt-looking Moody taken 10 days ago while WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart requested that Moody pass on his regards to Owen Hart, who died in 1999.
Best known for his near 20-year association with the Undertaker portraying a urn-wielding spooky funeral director, Moody also managed Mankind and ‘son’ Kane in the WWE.
Earlier in his career he accompanied Rick Rude for World Class Championship Wrestling – as well as providing storyline guidance for then-rookies such as Steve Austin, Lex Luger and The Ultimate Warrior, he said “Our deepest condolences go out to Moody’s family, friends and fans.”

TNA also marked Moody’s passing to “one of the most respected veterans in professional wrestling”.
Bearer’s last Appreciation
Naija Standard learnt that Bearer credited WWE for saving his life after the company reportedly assisted him with the costs of gastric bypass surgery which saw the star – at one point tipping the scales at way over 500 pounds – drop around 14 stone of excess weight.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael and Daniel. Moody’s wife Dianna died in 2009.
